I have a big problem. I bought ASUS Geforce 6600, 256MB, AGP8/4x. I've change my old mx440 64Mb to a 6600, and I can't do nothing, because a view looks so crappy that it's hard to see anything. There are loads of horizontal stripes. I've disabled in BIOS such features as AGP fast writing, 1ms write, Video caching and so on. Now the view is fine when Win XP loads. I've uninstall old MX drivers. Applied new ones from NVIDIA.com for 6600, finally I could adjust refresh rate and resolution. but still when I load any game (doesn't matter starcraft, counter-strike or of newer ones the screen looks just the same as it looked in the beginning. I could see anything. I use 420W power supply, and MSI motherboard with AGP4X. I'm 99% for sure that physically a video card is fine. Something with drivers maybe or with a mother board. I don't know. Pls help me :) I've checked it a 1000 times, video card is plugged, fan spins :/
Its most likely drivers. Completely uninstall all Geforce drivers and and software. Some video uninstall programs only remove the software and not the drivers. You'll need to go into device manager and uninstall the video drivers from there. Double check to make sure MX440 drivers are gone as well. When you restart and windows wants to install your new card, cancel it, then run the Geforce setup program. That way you won't get conflicts with a windows basic driver. Then make sure you have Directx 9c installed. Directx 10 isn't necessary because I don't believe the 6600 supports it anyway.
Good luck
