I need to re-install Windows XP Home Edition

My notebook crashed and I was unable to use the keyboard. I used a Windows XP Professional CD that I borrowed from a friend to enable me to at least boot up my computer. In doing so, I ended up installing the XP Pro on my computer and erased the original XP Home Edition from my laptop. The Operating System came pre-installed on my 3200 from Averatec. My question is, "How can I obtain a CD for my computer using the Product Key that is on the bottom of the unit"?

Contact Averatec and order recovery media, if they are still available.
If you cannot get a Windows XP OS to install, you can always try Linux. The Ubuntu distribution, and most other ones are free.

My computer crashed and i need to install windows xp home edition but don;t have the disc what can i do

You should have a system recovery disk. If you don't, then you will need a XP Home disk. As long as you have the XP installation code (usually placed on a sticker on the outside of your comptuer), you can use any XP Home disk. It's the product code that is really needed. Go borrow a CD from a friend and use your software code that is on your computer.

You can also do a clean installation by following the procedure as listed below:To perform a clean installation of Windows XP, follow these steps:Back up all important information before you perform a clean installation of Windows XP. OS Matter

Nope.

Without the disk you cannot upgrade to Windows XP Pro, because both Windows XP Home and Windows XP Professional are two different edition / version.

So if you want to upgrade your current operating system from Windows XP Home then you have to spend money to buy Windows XP Pro

But if you want to upgrade the Service Pack then you can very well do it.

Click the link below to download Windows XP SP3 for your edition and install it. Before installing it make sure you have turned off your security programs or better install it from the SafeMode
