SOURCE: cannot get dlink 524 wireless router to work with HN9000

Hi! I will be more than glad to assist u in this concern..if u bypass the router it will work, the reason why the modem wont talk to the router bcoz the router is not properly setup.. if you are using a cable modem from ur cable company provider- u need to do a mac clone on the router u have to clone the mac address of ur computer. normaly the mac of ur computer is the one register to your cable company and on the setup page of the router just selct on the internet setup, dhcp after clonning the mac address of your computer. u need to connect ur computer directly to the router and then after doing the process connect the router to the modem. if u are using a username and password, u have to use the pppoe settings on the router, if ur isp set a static ip , set it up to the router, to check the ip setting of your isp.. connect the computer directly to the modem and check if u have internet.. then click on start, run and type cmd,it will give u a dos prompt and from there type ipconfig/all and it will show u the ip address, subnetmask, default gateway, dns server.. I hope this will solve ur concern..

Can not connect to internet

My first guess is that your Dlink ADSL modem is really a modem router, so you are getting double routing. Sometimes this works just fine, though, so I'm not confident that's the whole explanation.
You'll need to setup your IP plan carefully
set the D-Link modem(router?) to bridging mode & the DLink wireless router does the login to Exetel.
DLink wireless router WAN side: DHCP + login to Exetel
DLink wireless router LAN side: 192.168.0.1
Subnet 255.255.255.0
DHCP on: range 192.168.0.10 to .20
DNS Servers: 220.233.0.3, 220.233.0.4
with PC's wireless adaptor set to DHCP
so picks up eg:
IP address: 192.168.0.10
Gateway address: 192.168.0.1
DNS Servers: 220.233.0.3, 220.233.0.4

Wireless g range extender

Hi there ....

before anything else, can you please what is the version of range expander is is wre54g v1,v2,v3?

1) either which, please do verify your wireless settings of your DLINK router
-- the network name or ssid
-- security if you enabled any on your router
-- wireless channel
-- please check the default gateway of your router if it is 192.168.1.1

** please take note also that the best location for your expander would be inbetween your router and your computers

2) once you have gathered the wireless settings
-- you would need to manually configure your expander coz it didnt work .. Please remember that the LINKsys expander is designed to work with linksys routers, so it may or may not work.. I just need to set your expectations on this ...

3) once you have verfied the default gateway of your DLink router ... please reply to this thread and let us proceed in configuring your wre...

Setting up wireless security

ManualThis is a discontinued item. Your passwords can be  UN - admin PW - (none), admin, or public
Right click on your network icon for your dlink and click Status click support and whatever your gateway is put http://*gateway* in your browser and log in.  That is where I WOULD CHANGE YOUR password and setup your security.

Wireless router

Yes, you can use wireless router with the modem. I guess the actiontech DSl router that you have is also Wireless one. If so, you can use just the DSL router for wireless connection. If you really want to use Dlink router with it, Connect the ( WAN port ) of the Dlink router to the ( LAN Port ) of the Action tech modem [ modem(LAN)-->Dlink(WAN) ]. Once you do this connection, better to do power cycle ( unplug the pwr to the dlink first, then, disconnect the pwr to action tech - wait 1min and plug the pwr to modem, wait for DSL light to be solid , then put the pwr back to dlink ). Make sure DSL light on the modem solid, internet light & WLAN light on the link glowing.
- Make Hardwire connection between the computer to Dlink and check the ip address on the computer whether it acquires the ip address from Dlink and then check the internet connection on the computer, it has to work. if computer not getting ip from dlink, try restarting computer.
- If hardwire connection on the dlink works fine and check the wireless connection.

For wireless configuration or assistance you may check this link:

please feel free to ask, if you have any more assistance.
