Hi, have epson xp-200 wi-fi. the printer works well as does scan to print but not the scan to computer. keeps showing error and suggests what i've done numerous times...restart compt', scanner and even reloaded cd but to no avail. have even shut off firewall(win7)and still wont work. the scan starts ok, testing to see what type of document it is but when it goes to scan to transmit thats when the error occurs. never had this problem originally with USB connection but even that doesnt work now. thanks. regards Arnold
Hi -- A couple of ideas.
My scanner never works if computer is in hibernate mode so make sure computer is fully on and not in any sort of standby mode.
If you upgraded your operating system since you first did it, try uninstalling the printer and the software and then reinstall the Epson software and printer in the order in your get started guide
For the USB problem, make sure it is the Epson USB cord and shut down your system and then turn it on with this cord attached.
if it is a MAC, do not use OS X Classic mode
If none of those work, it is time to call in the pros and call Epson

I may be a bit late with this but it worked for me. Uninstall your antivirus, remove any parental controls and disable your firewall. Then, reinstall the printer and download a 2008 version of your anti virus and re-enable your firewall. I haven't reactivated the parental controls just in case it all goes pear shaped.

If you have the Cables2GO USB to Parallel converter, it is a pain to get working. Go to Radio Shack and buy the GigaWire USB to Parallel.
Then once plugged in, go the printer that will be using the converter. Go to the printer properties, select the PORTS tab. Select the 'VIRTUAL PRINTER PORT FOR USB'. That worked for me!

You need to carefully clean the encoder strip. It's the clear strip behind the carriage that runs all the way from right to left. A damp Q-tip should remove any grease or fingerprints.

I had this same problem and it is fixable, but not the way you would probably like, though you can still scan with the printer. You just have to open the Paint program and click from scanner or camera, and then choose your printer and click scan preview, and then scan, it works just fine but its a little time consuming.

thanks for your help in this issue. i believe the problem has almost been resolved. fed up, i shut the computer down for about an hour while i mowed the lawns....this seemed to have solved the problem(shutting down the computer that is, not mowing the lawn). about 90% success rate with wifi scanning. many thanks again for the possible solutions to my problem. george.
