Printer not picking up paper from paper tray

There was a paper jam. The paper was pulled and now when I print, the roller is not taking the paper from the paper tray...it makes a clicking sound as if it is trying to take the paper. My printer is fairly new and I don't want to get rid of it.

1). take all the paper out of the paper tray.
2). look at the printer pickup roller while you enable the printer to print a test page.
3). if the roller is not turning, and hear click sound, then you need to take the printer to be service. The gear that runs the pickup roller is broken.
4). if the pickup roller truns, but you still hear the click sound, then most likely the secondary roller gear is broken. You still need to bring it to be repair.

call the repair shop and find out how much it cost and how long, It is cheaper to get a new printer than to have it fixed.

Fix repeated paper jams on Lexmark 901 Pro

If you are getting a jam and there is no paper visible then a likely cause is a false jam that is caused when the paper is not picked up from the tray at the start of printing. Send a print job and listen closely. If you can hear the pickup rollers turning but no paper is being pulled into the printer then either the rollers are dirty or are worn and need to be replaced. Trying printing from a different tray or the manual feed tray to eliminate a fault with a different component on the printer.

Hp3005 had a paper jam tray two, pulled out paper, now tray 1 keeps running pulling paper but doesnt print.

You have a pick up roller that needs replaced. If you pull the tray out, take a flashlight and look up into the printer. You will see a black roller. It probably is covered with white paper dust and slick looking. This needs replaced. That is all that is wrong.

My CLX 3175FN printer continues to have a paper jam. Right now I cannot print any paper size without it jamming. What can I do to correct this problem?

Paper jams

85% of paper jams are caused by worn rollers. The rubber treads in the rollers wears down, making them smooth, so they won't pick up the paper. Sometimes, they are aged, which also gives them a smoother rounded texture, causing jams. The quick fix is to liven up that roller with a mixture of alcohol and soap. Damp a rag with the solution and wipe the rollers clean with it. That's make them more pliable and the paper jams will cease. If you plan to keep your printer,

Replace the pick-up and feed rollers.

Metal Tab Separation- Pull out your paper tray and examine either end where the paper sits in. If any of the corners are held down by metal tabs, this is your paper feed system. Chances are, you only have one rubber roller or one set of rollers arranged along side of each other. Reach in where the tray goes and feel up. You should feel some rollers. They might be completely round, or they might be shaped like a half moon. Clean whichever part of them you can with the solution, and this should stop your paper jams. It might be necessary to turn them, but don't force them if they don't move freely.

Pickup Roller and Separation Pad-

If your printer uses this paper feed system, you should see a small piece of flat or slightly curved rubber or cork. It would be towards the end of the paper tray, or deep inside the paper loading cavity on top loaders. This 'separation pad' rubs against the paper feed roller, so if you find the pad, you've found the roller. Clean it and your jams should stop.

Three Roller Paper Separation System- Pull your paper tray out, and look for a roller on either end of it. If you find one, clean it. Then look inside the printer where that roller would rest with the paper tray inserted. You'll find another paper roller there. Clean this one also. Finally, look further back or closer to the front of your printer (depending on which way your paper feeds) to find another roller or set of rollers. Clean all of these, and your paper jams will go away

Also:

Start a print from tray 1/manual feed and just as the trailing edge of paper is entering the machine; quickly open it to stop print and take out the cartridge and look at the drum and the paper underneath. If the issue is there at that point then it would point to the cartridge. If not then it is in the fuser area.

If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it and give a testimonial for my response

Hello I am getting a paper jam error #241 "check paper tray 1 "

DEAR SIR,
Some print media, although they may conform to size and weight specifications, may not perform to your expectations. Print quality, jam rates, fuser life, and output stacking can be affected by the printing environment (temperature and humidity) and characteristics of the paper (structure, moisture content, smoothness or thickness);
Duplex printing is not supporteD
Using Auxiliary tray is recommended

HOPE THIS HELPS....

Thank you sir,take care

My Lexmark C510 keeps popping up with a Paper Jam 241 error in Tray 1. There is no paper jam. I open the printer door take the tray out, put it back in and shut the door. How can I fix this problem? I...

I have a Lexmark C510 colour printer: Manufacture date June 2005.
I had been getting the "Paper Jam 241 error in Tray 1" message for some time. Sometimes it would print just fine but in the past several months, it's been bad. I'd pull the tray out (notice roller marks on the top sheet that was only partially fed), reinserted the sheet properly into the tray and try again and again. The techy at Lexmark mentioned that I could purchase a new rubber roller that feeds the sheet but that I might first wipe down the roller myself as they get worn and old. I first wiped it down with a damp cloth to clean it then thought to try reconditioning it with leather conditioner we'd purchased for our couch (I'm sure Amourall would work just as well). Voila, the old, dry roller was picking up paper again. Just open the rear door and that grey roller (it's black again when you recondition it) is at the bottom. Hope that helps.

Paper jam ,no paper jam found Dell 1815dn

give this a try

  1. Turn off the printer.
  2. Remove any paper trays. Inspect them for wrinkled or damaged paper.
  3. Also open the back cover of the printer if this model has one.
  4. Open any other doors that give access to the printer's paper path and to the toner or ink cartridge.
  5. If necessary, remove the toner or ink cartridge. Place it away from light/ sun light to avoid damaging it.
  6. If you find a piece of jammed paper, remove it by holding it with both hands and pulling firmly. The goal is to keep the paper from tearing. If several pieces are jammed together, try pulling out the middle piece first to loosen the jam.
  7. If the paper does tear, try rotating the roller gears manually to free the paper. Don't force anything, though. Do this step especially if the jam message comes up repeatedly without any obvious paper jam, there may be a small tear of paper inside.
  8. Ones the printer is free of paper Replace the toner or ink cartridge and paper trays, close any doors you opened and turn the printer back on.
  9. If the printer paper jam message still appears, then there is still some paper in the printer. Reinspect the paper path.
  10. see alternative if the problem is still not solved.

alternative :
Load a piece of thick paper, for example photo paper and press the resume button (may be diffrent button on diffrent models) a few times to the printer picks up the paper and puts it through the machine.

OPTRA T610 NOT PRINTING FROM TRAY1

What happens is that the rubber roller that's supposed to pick paper up and load it in doesn't pull the paper from the tray anymore, hence it gives the paper jam error message. If you want you can replace that rubber roller to fix the problem, however first thing I do is to take that rubber roller out (remove tray and look underneath to find the roller) and turn it inside out then fit it back. This will give the rubber roller the grip that it missed and solve your problem.

Paper not picking up and alarm light comes on/stays on

Hi, You have the right idea of cleaning the rubber rollers behind the tray, (if the paper will feed through once then we can eliminate the idea of a paper jam)unfortunantly, when the rollers get too worn out then cleaning is not effective. I work on alot of Brother 5140 printers which look very similar to this model, and we pull out the tray, take the pick roller off of the printer, pull off the rubber part of the roller and rotate it 180 degrees from it former position which gives it a new area of wear. Usually that's a pretty good fix, and it isn't too hard to do, just make sure to note how it was put together before taking it apart. Good luck.
