Maytag Atlantis MAV6451AWW

A couple nights ago, we loaded the washer the way we normally do, the machine filled, started and a couple minutes later, a burning smell was coming from the machine. I shut it off and unplugged it. After retreiving the fire extinguisher, I plugged the machine in, and started it. It would hum, but nothing else. I have taken the front of the machine off did a visual check, nothing seemed burnt or out of the ordinary. the humming seems to be coming from the plugs that reside on top of the water filling area. Any advice? Does anyone know where i can get parts for the MAV6541aww machine, i'm looking for a water valve....can't seem to find the place except for in the states, and they don't deliver to canada...please help..

turn off the water and remove the hoses from both the wall and from the back of the machine. check the screens inside of the machines water valve, they are probably clogged. do the same for the hose screens on the other end. replace the hose screens at the wall end and remove the screens from inside the machine. replace hoses and turn the water on and you should be good to go

The instructions for cleaning the Maytag Atlantis washing machine can be found in the User's Guide for the machine.

I can only think that you do not have the User's Guide. If that is the case, you can download one (free) here:

You will need Adobe Acrobat Reader software (free). After you download the guide, save it to your Documents folder and use a file name you can find again easily - example: Maytag Atlantis Washer Manual.

Cleaning instructions are on Page 8 of the guide.

Note: Unless you are mechanically inclined, do not remove the agitator. You may not install it again properly and then will have to pay for a service call.

Something caught in pump & belt burning. Motor start capacitor (If fitted) is US & needs replacing. Timer faulty, motor has burning smell, replace timer & or motor. Motor switchgear failed motor sitting there & humming, adjust switchgear or replace motor.

Hi,

This problem is caused by a faulty water level switch.

It is a diaphragm like device with a small clear plastic tube attached between the switch and the bottom of the washer's outer tub.
As the water level increases, pressure increases on the air in the tube. When the pressure reaches a certain level, it activates the switch to turn off the water and signals the timer to start the agitate cycle.
Look for any obstruction or defect in the tube. The switch can be checked for continuity with a multimeter. If it has no continuity the switch is defective..

Maytag Atlantis stopped mid cycle

Bad/worn/broken lid switch look at the back of the lid there is a little lid cam there that hits a switch,if this switch isn't engaging it will do just what you are describing.use a small screw driver to push the button in and see if it starts.
