RESET INSTRUCTONS FOR XEROX 8560 MAINTENANCE KIT

You will probably have to replace the ink loader

Your Administrator Guide book should have these instructions listed for you. It should be on the CD's that came with the printer.

If you have lost/misplaced them, you can download the guides from the Xerox.com website.
The steps below are what I did from my laptop as a Repair Technician:
1. Connect a crossover cable between the PC and system. To print an Event Log or Runtime Log:
2. Verify the system is Ready.
3. Use the system's control panel to enable AutoIP:
a. Select the system Setup menu.
b. Select the Connection Setup menu.
c. Select the Network Setup menu. 5. The page should now print.
d. Select the TCP/IP Setup menu.
e. Set AutoIP to On.
f. Exit the menu so the system is Ready.

NOTE: To print the Connection Setup or Configuration page, select the system Setup
menu.
Reset the system to cause AutoIP to assign a new IP address (cycle power or select
Restart system from the Shutdown menu).
5. After the system's IP address is set, test communication by sending the "PING" com-
mand.
6. If the test fails, install a different cable and retest.

You're probably lucky that your machine still works after using non-xerox products, in any event, I'd suggest a new Xerox Extended kit, it's possible the non-xerox product didn't work as intended and your replacement kit wore out faster because of it.

The kit contains a micro chip which "resets' the counter in your machine, as the count comes from the kit, not the machine itself, however, the machine is capable of sensing when the maintenance kit has reached end of life regardless of count.

Additionally, you should check the wiper blade (you can see it when you remove the maintenance kit) for excessive wax buildup which generally means the machine needs service.

These are great printers, very fast for the quality. They can be quite a nightmare to service due to so many systems which have to be exact!
My #1 advice on this product is if you own one, never ever move it while it's hot! or you could face a very expensive repair!

I don't believe there is anything to do but replace the maint kit. There is a chip on that maint kit and it lets the machine know how much life is left. when you replace it the chip will reset the count. IT SHOULD HAVE WARNED YOU TO ORDER A NEW ONE WITH PLENTY OF WARNING!

Call Xerox. If they can't reset it, They will sent you a new Mtc kit. Thay will want that count sheet. Plus, They will not warrenty any kits over 6 months.

the maintenance kit keeps your melted crayons from sticking to the roller. You know the smell... and no you need a new one.

you could also try rebooting the machine. i've seen it happen that the new maintenance kit was recognised as new after a reboot. choose the standard shutdown method...

They sell a lot of maintenance kits that way.I worked for a major Tampa are copier company for 10 years and they used every part until it just quit.However, you should line up a maintenance kit at the ready.Sometimes a counter will shut down the copier when it gets to the point where they want it to stop.

The maint kit resets the counter when it is installed. You may have gotten a bad maint kit or the black plasstic part that the roller slides into is bad. That is where the connection is to reset the counter.

Contact the company that you purchased the maintenance kit from.
They should have the solution or send you a replacement.
I know of no way to change the Xerox printer to match up with a non Xerox maintenance kit. They would not set the machine up to accept non Xerox products since that voids warranties.
