google Maytag Quiet series 300 Handle and latch
there are several new handles about $30-35.

few things move on these but the jets and the discharge pump. Are there rotating jets that are removable, if so remove them and clean them it might just be dirt. if you cant find the fault then yes! a repair man could sort it out.
Unfortunately, the Maytag quiet series models have plastic latch handles that are prone to crack after time.
You should be able to order a replacement handle through a distribtor.
If you can, unlatch/open the door. Using a star screwdriver, unscrew all the screws on the inside of the door frame.
Once all the screws are removed you should be able to separate the inside of the door from the latch assembly.
From there you'll need to squeeze the latch handle together and replace it in. I'll warn you that it feels like you have to squeeze the thing so hard you might break/crack it on your own. It is a hard/tight fit if I remember correctly.
One last thing you may want to do to is check the food grinder in the middle of the washer. Sometimes the cracked pieces of the latch can end up there stuck in the grinder causing it to be louder than it should.
John,
I had the same problem and just disassembled by removing the dozen or so screws around the inside of the door, lifting the waterproof panel, and pulling up the latch assembly to see what was broken. In my case there were plastic pieces broken off of the latch handle and where the latch hinges on the back of the control panel-the latter piece is $50 to replace. unfortunately. Good news is the disassembly and replacement will be easy as a DYI. Sorry this is too late to help you, but maybe others will have the same problem.
