If the screen is cracked then that is why it will not recognize your touch. It will work normally but when the phone has had enough it will stop working. Hoping you have insurance, you need to replace it or see if they can restore it in any way at the apple store.

Replaced screen on ipod and now touchscreen wont work

Because this is a fused part (lcd and digitizer) you will have to buy a new screen assembly. BUT before you do that open the the iPod back up and verify that both connectors are properly seated.

If it all looks okay and still does not work then you probably bought a bad screen.

My ipod touch will not slide open whatsoever. There is a lock on the screen, but I cant even slide to unlock it even if I wanted to! Which annoys me because the only button that works is the cancel button...

You most likely might have damaged it by dropping it or hitting it against something while not noticing. What you are telling me are signs of having broken the touch sensor (it happened to me before).
You have one of three choices:
  1. If you bought it less than a year ago, go to the Apple Store and they might replace it on the spot for free since I think its covered under their warranty
  2. Go to the Apple Store and have them fix it.
  3. Go to the Apple Store, give them your old iPod and buy a new one - they will give you a 10% discount.

I just bought mine from online..and i dled itunes and put music on there...but its stuck on the slide to open screen and i wont read my slide..and also the lock is up there but everytime i tried turning it...

Hold the sleep/wake until the device powers off.

Use the Five Rs to recover the iPod. You will lose the data that is currently on it if you restore but you can always re-sync the data to the iPod.

Crack ipod touch passcode

you cant crack it but you can surely get your itouch working again
  1. Power off the device (Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the the iPod touch to turn off.
  2. Press and hold the Home button while reconnecting the USB cable to iPod. When you reconnect the USB to iPod, the device should then power on.
  3. Continue holding the Home button while iPod starts up. While starting up, you will see the Apple logo.
  4. When you see "Connect to iTunes" on the screen, you can release the Home button and iTunes will display the recovery mode message:
  5. Restore and it'll download ~240mb firmware and you're done
Warning: you will lose all your data
