Drivers download I need to download usb driver to my laptop working with windows vista, my laptop is inspiron 6400. I'm going to dell website and after choice the service tag i find a list of drivers but i can not choice from it the correct one. aslso i dont know how to download the driver because when click on any link in find another page without download button Can you indicate how to do this please? please let me know all details

It may be that you have not got the updated driver for it. if you on dells support website you can find drivers for your dell.

click the download button and install the driver, or you can perform a windows update that should find the right drivers.
i dont think dell offers windows 7 drivers for your machine but the vista ones should work fine. but if not go to synaptics website here and scroll down for the newest drivers for the trackpad (youd want the xp/vist/windows 7 32bit)

You need to go to Dell Support pages online and download the drivers for your laptop model, if they dont show a windows 7 driver then try the vista or xp one they list, should still work.

Dell has a website where you can download all necessary drivers for your specific machine. You will need to type in your service tag number, you will find it on a tag on the bottom of the machine. Here is the URL:

I went over your previous problems and you have a usb stick that is not recognized?

the problem is not with your computer, you can try it on another computer, the stick is faulty or broken down, try it on a few computers and see if it works on any of them, also try another usb stick on your computer. if another stick works with your computer and this stick doesn't work with other computers then the problem is the stick and your computer is perfectly fine.

now if you need the files from a memory stick that is not working anymore, you would have to send it to a data recovery service since we can't use any programs to recover the files due to not being able to use the device at all..

Look on the bottom of your laptop for a label bearing the "service tag". This is an alphanumeric string of approximately 7 characters. Then go to Dell's website, click the "Support" area (top right on web page I was given) click "Drivers and Downloads" section. Then click "Choose by service tag" and enter the service tag you found. Then pick your download and install.

You can download the drivers from Dell WEB site, the support download page. Make sure you select your model laptop, better still type in the Service Tag number, it is printed on the label on the bottom of the laptop. Also make sure you select the Windows XP or Vista version of the driver for your Windows operating system.

Go to a working computer (beg borrow or steal) and download the drivers for your model laptop from the DELL WEB site (suggest you insert your Service Tag to get the correct drivers for your model laptop), copy it to a CD or USB memory stick and then install them on your computer.
Don't forget to activate your XP license and also install SP3 (Service Pack 3 it's approx. 350Mb in size).
