So the acer says no bootable device and to put in boot disc....it didnt come with a boot disc. i need my computer!
This sounds awful, but a friend just had the same problem - no bootable device. He had dropped it, hitting keyboard first. Now he thumped it on the opposite side and IT WORKED! Must have been a loose connector
Hey, no joke, this same thing happened to me. I dropped it while it was in it's little neoprene case -- it could not have fallen more than two feet onto soft carpet, but my aspire one netbook gave me the same message during start-up. I looked around on websites and called acer tech support, and they all told me to have it looked at and there was probably a problem with my hard drive. So, as a last ditch effort before buying a new one or shelling out a considerable chunk of change, I turned it over, took out the hard drive and then put it back in. I then powered on my acer with no problem! Something must have jiggled loose in the fall. I'm no computer expert by any stretch of the imagination, but I suggest you try this before spending your money.
Hope it helps!

As it boots up, It will give you the ability to hit a key for setup. Hit that key and go to hard drive. Make sure it says "auto" for Primary Master. If it does, look at "boot devices" and make sure the hard drive is in the boot list, preferably, number two after CD or floppy drive.
