My JVC camera got wet and does not start up any more. Can I recover files from the internal harddisk?

Camera got washed by a surf on a boat. some lights are still blinking, but the camera no longer starts up. I see no external Harddisk connection. Can I remove some screws to release the harddisk or is this a too simple approach of this problem?

SOURCE: I have a JVC GZ-MG465BU

Hi,

This is a common problem.Try connecting the old camcorder to your computer via firewire and turn it on. Look in the 'My Computer' file for the camcorder as an external storage device. If it shows up there you can simply copy the files to a temporary directory on your computer and view them with Windows Media Player. If the problem does not resolve, you need to send the unit to JVC repair center. Apparently, repair requires reformatting the hard drive which means they will have to attempt recovering all the files currently on the hard drive.

Let me know,if needed further assistance.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

Hello....I have a " JVC

here is the manual in pdf form.
I looked though it and it doesnt seem to have a solution. For this "video management file is broken." yet there are many people with this problem.
I would check to make sure you have updated the software since it is a harddrive camera

I ERASED A VIDEO ON MY JVC HD 1080P REC VIDEO CAMERA. MODEL NO: GC-FM1BU. IS THERE ANY WAY TO RECOVER IT?

If the original file was saved on an SD card then you can bring that SD card into a computer specialist and they can get into the card and recover deleted files. If you do go into a specialist, bring your video camera and USB cable as well in case it is not on the card because they may be able to get it off the camera too.

Accidentally deleted photos from internal memory of my Kodak came

Hi!
Let's try to save your son's halloween pics.

There are a lot of recovery software that you can use to recover deleted files - specially pictures. You can try to use Zero Assumption Recovery. You can download the software at this site:

http://www.z-a-recovery.com/download.htm

It's a free software (you do not neet to pay to use this), and it's easy to use.

Here are the steps that you need to do:
1.) After you install this software, connect your camera to your PC (do not insert the memory card). Turn on the camera, open the Zero Assumption Recovery software.

2.) Click Next. Select "Recover images from the digital camera.." and click Next again.

3.) Select the Physical Device - select your camera , click Next. [grab a cup of coffee since retrieving the files may take some time depending on the size of the memory (",) ]

4.) After retrieving the files - select all the files that can be recovered. Click Next.

5.) Select the button on the right side (close to Destination) and select where you want to save the files. Click "Start revovering files".

That's it.

I hope that helps.

Good luck and have a nice day!

HDD error, full disk, camera temp is too low

I have had success with this... Download the camera recovery software called asoftech data recovery
http://www.asoftech.com/adr/

You have to use a card reader either on your computer or an external USB card reader. Put the card in the card reader, open the recovery program, then select the drive where files are deleted, then press "Start" and wait for it to do it's magic.

Deleted Files?

First things first: DO NOT take any more photos or videos with your digital camera (memory card) that you want to recover files from in case you may quite possibly ruin your chances of recovery.
Then here are some software programs that may help you out.
For Windows --> Data Recovery Tool
For Mac --> Mac Data Recovery
Here are the steps:
1. Connect your camera (memory card) PC or Mac which has installed the recovery program.
2. Scan for the lost files (photos, videos etc).
3. Recover them.

Please be noted that your camera memory should show as a drive letter in your explorer, if not, you need to take out your memory card and connect using a card reader, or plug-in to card reader slot if there's any on your computer.
