No power to receiver - Sony STR-DE425 Receiver

Check outlet for power by plugging in a known working device to the outlet. If it has power, replace the power cable of the receiver. IF that still does not work, the receiver's power supply is dead.

Connect the AC power chord provided with the Receiver and switch-on power - the standby indicator glows now press the standby switch to power on your receiver

There isn't a reset on these receivers.

If it doesn't show a power light on it, then try disconnecting the power for 30s.
If still no power light

1. check the outlet it's connected to
2. disconnect all cables from the back of the receiver but power and try again.
3. connect the receiver to a different outlet (still with nothing else connected)

if you still don't get a power light on it then the receiver is dead.

It sounds like the receiver may be power cycling. Try bypassing any power strips or surge protectors and plug directly into a wall and try again. If the problem continues, if possible try another outlet.

When the receiver is rebooted, the power light will come on and then go out. This is normal. After several seconds the power light will illuminate again and it will acquire satellite signal. Again, when power is removed and restored to the receiver, it is normal for the green power light to go out and then illuminate again. I hope this helps.

I had this problem also and discovered an easy way to trick it into powering on: Click the power button, then within 1 second of the receiver powering off, click the power button again. The receiver should stay on this time. This works with both the button on the receiver and the remote control.
I would like to know what causes this problem and whether or not I should be concerned about damage being done. I assume this is a power protection. I haven't tried plugging this receiver into a different power socket to test, but I don't think the power plug is the problem. Note: I have the subwoofer plugged into the power plug on the back of the receiver.

You will need an amplifier or 2 channel receiver. Hook the sub out rca jack to the rca inputs on this new amp or receiver and hook the speaker terminals on sub to speaker terminals on same amp or receiver. Your Yamaha receiver doesn't have any power for a passive sub.Just pick up any old fairly high powered receiver for fifty dollars and you're good to go.I use old dolby pro logic receivers as they are a dime a dozen today. My receiver was turned on and plugged into a surge protector along with my LCD TV. The power went out and everything shut down.
