New home reverse button does not work - New Home MX-3123 Computerized Sewing Machine

Most likely your machine has a reverse. Here is an owner's manual:

Look for a dial, button, or lever marked with the letter "R"

try turning the tension wheel in the center of the belt wheel. Have you changed belts recently. Also there should be 2 plugs for the machine motor, did these get switched?

have the machine checked, to see if the part that works the reverse is broken.

it will only reverse in straight stitching if it's not reversing at all,I'd return!

sound like it needs to be serviced

You need to take the machine in for adjustment, on that model you cannot do it yourself

1/28/13 - I have Janome Harmony 2049 that was initially sewing forward with no reverse and then after about 12 inches of sewing would ONLY sew in reverse. After spending an hour getting the plastic housing off...I was able to locate the shaft that made the reverse. It needed lubrication and after working it in and unjamming the part from the down position, the forward and reverse now work!

sounds like a screw may have become missing to keep the reverse knob in its proper position so it is backwards inside the machine

Be sure you are in the correct stitch pattern...if you are on a buttonhole stitch or a stretch stitch it normal for the machine to sew backwards. Be sure your length is to the right of 0 and not in a strtch stitch model or buttonhole mode.
