Water leaking from fridge

Technician thought it was a cracked drip pan and improvised by putting in a small aluminum kitchen pan (directly under what appears to be a drain tube ) Still - lots of water leaking from underneath and sided of unit.....seems like lot of water coming out so I shut off the water to the fridge...seems not to be as much water now - but it's only been about an hour... Could a 'cracked' drip pan cause a cup or so of water per hour to leak from the unit?

SOURCE: Do I need to empty the water from my drip pan

the pan is there to catch condensation from the compressor during the refridgeration cycle. the water build up to me indicates one of two things. Either the refrigerant level is low and it is freezing up then thawing, or if you have ice or water dispencer it could have a leak in the line. the only thing other than that is a leak in the magnetic door seal or other insulation causing condensation. hope this helps

SOURCE: Water collecting in the pan underneath the fridge.

it should do this but the water should evaporate from the heat from the condenser and compressor, when the machine goes into defrost a heater comes on and melts all the frost off of the coil, the water drains down into the pan where the water will evaporate, when was the last time you cleaned out the condenser coil?remove the front bottom kick panel and check the coil,if it's filled with dust it has to be cleaned out at least once a year especially if you have a cat or dog, then pull out the machine unplug it or shut off the control and remove the bottom back panel, the easiest way to do this is to vac up as much dust as you can with a shop vac, then set it for blow by putting the hose on the other end of the shop vac and blow the dust out of the coil, you can buy a condenser brush that will remove dust thats stuck inside the coil but the shop vac works great, through the condenser this is how the heat escapes out of the machine, also clean off the fan motor in the rear, also there are plastic water lines that come out of the water valve that could be cracked going to the ice maker and water dispenser or the valve itself could be cracked causing this problem or the pan could have a crack in it,very unusual for the pan to overflow, when you're done cleaning it plug it back in,make sure the fan is running fine and have someone fill a cup of water and check the plastic lines coming from the valve to see if it leaks, pull out the pan and check it for cracks, fill it up at the sink and check it,if everything looks good you can shut off the water valve that goes to the fridge for a few days and keep an eye on the pan, like i say it's unusual for the pan to overflow just from the defrost water,if the water is evaporating with the water shut off then you have a crack in one of the water lines going to the ice maker or dispenser

Should this oven leak water/fluid from bottom of door when cooking. It is only 5 months old.

you should have an aluminum foil or silicone pan in the bottom of your oven for drippings. These are cheap and throw away and also make oven cleaning easier.

Leaking under neath front of refrigerator

Usually any defrost water sits in a plastic pan and evaporates away in normal operation. If the pan becomes brittle it cracks and leaks water. Pull the fridge out and look on top of the black pot (compressor) Is there a plastic drain pan sat on top of it?
Sometimes if the fridge is working hard a lump of ice can form on the pipework going back to the compressor which melts causing some water at the front of the fridge.
Lastly, the insulation under the fridge may have broken down, allowing condensation to form and drip. If the drain was blocked, the water would be inside the fridge, not underneath.

Hi, I have a refurbished RFG297AARS from Samsung that we purcased as a refurb about 7 days ago. On day 1-3, a puddle of water formed under the back right underside of the fridge, without the water line...

Chances are its either the drip line or drip tray.. there is a drain to route the condensation pulled out of the fridge and freezer that leads to a drip pan underneat the unit.

Either the drip tray was not installed.. reinstalled incorrectly or the drain tube is leaking or no longer directed to it, or it's overflowing due to excess condensate.

Best of luck!

There is a leak in our refrigerator and it seems to be coming from the bottom somewhere next to the fan from this thing.

Depending on the model or design of the fridge... most have a drip tray underneath the unit to collect the excess moisture pulled from the inside. This water is than directed to the drip pan.. where it is supposed to evaporate.. and there may be a small fan to speed this along as well as aid in keeping the compressor cool.. or even aid the condenser function.

Pull the reefer out and clean everything.. condenser coils and drip pan.. some times the drip pan gets so full of dust it overflows easily.. it's doubtful the tube leading to the drip pan is cracked.. but you can check to ensure it is actually directed into the pan..

If someone has moved the unit out to clean.. they may have banged into the pan causing to become tilted etc.

If you have an automatic ice maker.. check the fittings and connections.. be careful and have a bucket ready! There is generally a small self tapping/piercing t valve on the cold water line.. that supplies water to the ice maker.. you can shut the water off there..locate this valve first.. some installers use a nylon/plastic water line from the t valve to the reefer.. occasionally either the fitting comes lose.. or it becomes brittle and cracks.. if that's the case onece you have turned the water off at the t valve you can simply cut the hose, clean up the cut end, put the compression fitting back on (usually a good idea to get a new one) and reconnect.. turn on the water and check for leaks..

If this is a copper tube.. and simply snugging up the connection doesn't fix it.. you need a few more special tools to cut the tube.. reflare the end before reconnecting.

Of couse the first thing is to find the source of the leak.

Good luck!

I keep walking into my kitchen to find a strange little puddle of water near the front left of the fridge. cannot find a trail from under the fridge so i have no idea where it's coming from. is there a pan...

could be the defrost pan / ck it for crackes / some times it's the water valve leaking through . due to water pressure changes . put a paper towel in disp and see if it gets wet at night . and if you have a large dog that drinks from it at night this also could be the problem ( ha ha // ) but it has happened .mm

Water leak behind/under refrigerator

next time send the brand name and model number?this could be a few things, first thing to do if water is hooked up to fridge shut it down and see if it stops, also shut off the ice maker because no water will be going to it,if it stops then you could have a crack in one of the plastic water lines,if there isn't water hooked up to it or you shut off water and you still see a leak the drip pan could be cracked, when the machine goes into defrost a heater comes on in the freezer and melts the ice off of the evaporator coil, the water drains down into a pan where the compressor is,the heat from the compressor and condenser coil evaporates the water,or check the freezer floor,if there's ice on the floor of the freezer the drain line gets blocked and the defrost water can't drain down where compressor is,the water leaks onto freezer floor and then will drip out onto floor.these are the things to check, cracked water line or valve, cracked drain pan or blocked drain in freezer.

Heavy water leak in basement under fridge

Has this fridge got an ice maker???
Because ice makers require a water supply to make ice.
This could be where your water is coming from.

Refrigerator leaks

Could be nothing is broken. There is a drip pan under the refrigerator. It accepts water from the defroster. The water is supposed to evaporate before it gets full. It ought to be cleaned periodically, as it gets nasty with mold. Could be the pan is displaced or cracked.

Overflowing drip pan under the fridge

for reallybsq
problem could be door seals not sealing completely and hence excessive ice formed on evaporator and excess water when it melts. however, i have found this problem many times with large larder fridges and really found no cure.

for guest.
towards the bottom of the back wall, there is a gulley with a drain hole in the middle. this drain is blocked. clear it with something flexible and make sure water flows away freely

Fridge Leaking water from front right hand corner

Most likely you're correct, the defrost cycle produces water that is supposed to be captured in a holding tray, pan, etc. If the pan is cracked it would leak out or if the drip tube (pipe) is not in place it would miss the pan. It may be easier to remove the contents of the small frige and tip it over some to see what you can down there. I assume this small unit doesn't have any water souce to it (no ice maker or water). Check the tubing for damage and see if you can find the holding pan to inspect for crackes, etc.
