1. Loosen the screw on the front of the hand wheel, almost completely.
2. Now, tighten the hand wheel control knob. The needle should be able to move now.
3. Tighten the screw. Your hand wheel control knob should be able to be loosened for bobbin winding and tightened for sewing. Just for information purposes: The hand wheel control knob is usually the small round knob on the front of the hand wheel and is also very shiny.
If your machine is mechanical, most likely it hasn't been cleaned and oiled for a long time. Old sewing machine dries out and turns to glue which then prevents parts from moving like they should.
Tri-Flow Synthetic Lube is very good because it has little teflon beads. It also does not dry out like sewing machine oil will. Then applying heated air from a handheld hairdryer will help loosen it.
1. Remove the needle and bobbin assemble completely.
2 Try to move the hand wheel - forcefully if necessary.
3. Place one drop of oil on race. That is the little dip that has been circled. The hook (pointed thing) must ride on this smoothly.
4. Try to move the hand wheel again. Back and forth until it will move without resistance.
5. Oil parts that move with metal against metal.
6. Replace the bobbin assembly. Try to rotate the hand wheel again. If it is ok you can replace the needle.
7. Try to rotate again. If it rotates smoothly you shouldn't have any further problems. If the needle strikes something under the throat plate you will need to get the sewing machine timed.
1. Try to turn the hand wheel. Does the needle move?
2. Make sure the center wheel on the hand crank is tight.
Try the hand wheel now. If you still don't have luck try this.
3. Loosen the center wheel on the hand wheel. There is a small screw on the center wheel on the front or side. Loosen it until it almost comes out.
4. Now tighten the center wheel. (clockwise) Does the needle move if you move the hand wheel? If it does you can tighten the small screw.
5. If this doesn't do the job you will have to take the cover to the motor off. The motor has a bolt to loosen. As you loosen the bolt you can move the motor until it tightens the belt and makes it aligned as well. Run the motor slowly with the foot pedal and adjust the motor until it operates at it's highest speed. Now tighten. Replace all covers.
6. The belt is sometimes in need of replacing but not usual. You will know when you take the panel off.
The small box you will turn towards you while you hold the big handwheel. It might me very tight but it isn't going to break by turning hard. Tighten the small screw before you begin. When it is loose you can wind your bobbin.
1. Disengage the bobbin winder. That is done by moving the arm away from the center wheel. 2. Tighten the hand wheel. When you tighten you should have resistance like a jar has. If this doesn't then continue. 3. Loosen the small screw attached to the hand wheel center lug. Now, move the hand wheel into a position where it will tighten. 4. Go ahead and tighten the small screw. Now, it should move.
sounds as though the hand wheel at the right end of the machine needs tightening by hand to engage inner workings. Hold the larger wheel with one hand tighten the smaller wheel.
Check the hand wheel. There should be a smaller wheeel in the center of the hand wheel. Make sure it is locked in(turn center wheel clockwise or could be counter clockwise til snug)
