If you have a rescue disc or the original installation disc, you can use that to go to your menu to restore your system...hopefully.

SOURCE: gateway mx6453 wont boot up- oper system not found

Were you having problems with the disk-drive?

Insert the "System Restore" disk into the CD-drive.
Restart the computer, and press DELETE to enter BIOS SETUP.
Change the "boot order", to make the CD-ROM the _first_ boot-device,
demoting the disk-drive to the _second_ boot-device.
Save the change, and restart the computer.
It will boot from the CD-drive, and you can choose to reinstall Windows or to start the "Windows Repair" task. First, try the "repair" option.

Download this Recovery Console BootCD
http://www.thecomputerparamedic.com/files/rc.iso

Burn the image (ISO) to CD.
Boot from the newly created Recovery Console BootCD
Log into the Administrator account (press 1 then press enter)
On the command prompt type: chkdsk c: /r (and then press enter) Note one space after "c:")
Once CheckDisk has finished repairing the faults, type Exit, and then Restart (remove the BootCD)

SOURCE: Bootmgr is missing on Windows XP System. Gateway

1.Insert the Windows XP CD-ROM into the CD drive, and then restart the computer.
2.Click to select any options that are required to start the computer from the CD drive if you are prompted.
3.When the "Welcome to Setup" screen appears, press R to start the Recovery Console.
4.Press 1 (One) to select windows XP and then hit enter.
5.When you are prompted, type the Administrator password. If the administrator password is blank, just press ENTER.
6.At the command prompt, Type Bootrec /RebuildBcd and then press ENTER.
7.If the Bootrec.exe tool runs successfully, it presents you with an installation path of a Windows directory. To add the entry to the BCD store, type yes. A confirmation message appears that indicates the entry was added successfully. 8.If the Bootrec.exe tool cannot locate any missing Windows installations, you must remove the BCD store, and then you must re-create it. To do this, type the following commands in the order in which they are presented. Press ENTER after each command.
Bcdedit /export C:\BCD_Backup

ren c:\boot\bcd bcd.old

Bootrec /rebuildbcd

1.Restart the computer

I have a Gateway MX6438 laptop. It had Windows XP Home Edition. I choose to do a recovery hoping to have it as it came from manufacture. After recovery was finished I'm getting the "BOOTMGR missing"...

I would get Linux Mint on a DVD and boot from that. That will allow you to get at the windows partition and correct errors. I think the missing files may be zero in length. There are several Linux rescue disks that will also work for you. By the way Linux is free.

Video keeps crashing

Try booting into boot into Enable VGA Mode. When you start your PC press F8 at boot up. If you video doesn't crash in this mode is could possible be either the driver or the video card may have bad memory. I would try enable video mode first, then update the driver, if you are still having problems you then know that the video memory on the video card is bad. Especially if you are seeing lines or discolored blocks outside of the operating system, for example during boot up then it it definitely hardware.

Operating system not found problem

Easiest way to check is to change the cable and run your computer again! If you have same problem occures it does not mean that your hard drive is wrong.Just intert the boot CD and try to repair it if that fails or crashes or simply restart your computer then you have problem with hard drive!

Missing recovery disk for Composer 5100

The recovery disk is usually stored as a separate partition on the hard disk itself (Mostly in cases of laptop disks), so when ever you purchase laptops with pre-installed Operating System, The very first thing you do is create a CD/DVD recovery disk ie burn the recovery partition on the CD/DVD.
so that you can use the same DVD in case the OS crashes.
In your case as your hard disk was crashed and replaced ask the people from where you purchased the laptop/pc to restore it to the new hard disk, or purchase the Operating System.

hope this clears the doubt
