Washer won't spin or agitate

I have a Kenmore hevy duty mod 82427830 it will not spin or agitate comes on fills will water and makes a hum noise like the motor is coming on to turn but will not turn the washer sounds like its working but the drum isnt spinning my kenmore fills up but will not spin unless i push down on top?

hi, Does the water drain out in the spin cycle? Sounds like the coupler might be bad. Is this a top load machine? Asking questions so I can be clear and give you better info on your question.

if the motor runs than it is just a belt,not a big deal to install
be carefull because the new ones are direct gear connect and it is a bit harder to place the warn off plastic gears

Loud grinding motor protesting humming w/no spinning or agitating
The drum/agitator bearings are bad I believe, or the gearbox has been damaged. This is an expensive repair. I would strongly consider buying a new washer. This is a great time to buy appliances since the stores are really competing, and the prices are at their lowest.
