Is it worth repairing a sherwood model 6030R Receiver and can you even get new parts for it???

Given that the Sherwood is a basic stereo/Dolby Pro Logic receiver, and that we have had sources where digital audio (coax and optical) are the standard for Dolby Digital and DTS for well over 15 years, and that HDMI is established now as the de facto standard for AV connections on many home AV products.... perhaps it's time to retire the Sherwood and look for something new.

Entry level price points for new, fully spec'd, AV receivers capable of dealing with HD audio, DD, DTS, Dolby ProLogiic- and ProLogic II have never been cheaper.

Sherwood is still a good brand. It has been joined by Yamaha ( RX-V377BL); Sony (STRDH750); Denon (AVR-S500BT) and Pioneer (VSX-524-K) at the entry-level price point of $249. In real terms these are probably a fraction of what you paid for the Sherwood all those years ago.
Another option is used equipment. There are some really good pre-HDMI AV receivers from Denon, Yahama and Pioneer available in the used market.

Why Sherwood Receiver will NOT turn off. It's stuck in VCR mode?

Unless it has some kind of "child lock" mode, in which case you should see the manual about how to reset it. It sounds to me that there is a fault on the microprocessor that controls the functions. It's not something that could be solved other than by an engineer.

Look around for a service centre for Sherwood on the net. Richer Sounds in the UK sold a lot of these, they might be able to help you.

How do I reset the defaults on my Sherwood RD-8108 AV receiver?

I just got a tip from Sherwood tech support on resetting my Sherwood receiver, and it solved my problem perfectly. It's not the same model number but here's what I did: Put the receiver on Standby. Press and hold the Setup button for 3 seconds. When you see the model # on the display, press Enter. The word "Cleared" should show on the display. Hope it works for you also.

FM Tuner in Sherwood RX-4105 stopped working

Check your antenna connections. Make sure your FM antenna is hooked up to the FM antenna terminal or jack on your Sherwood receiver. If you have the antenna hooked through the coaxial cable, check your coaxial cable with an ohmmeter for continuity. You can buy a volt-ohm meter as little as $12. Usually bad connection occur between coaxial cable and the the coax cable connectors. If that doesn't solve the problem, then there may be something wrong with your tuner card inside of your Sherwood receiver.

If you receivers display does not change channels or frequencies or AM or FM mode, when you try to change the channel or frequencies, or AM or FM mode, there may be something wrong with the front board of your receiver.

If there is something internally wrong your Sherwood receiver, you need to take it to a qualified technician that can fix it. Do not try to repair it yourself. If you don't know what you're doing, you can do far more damage to that Sherwood receiver to the point that would be very costly to repair.

Before you take your Sherwood receiver to a technician, try to unplug the receiver, and leave it unplugged for several minutes, and then plug it back in. If that doesn't solve the problem, then you need to take your Sherwood to a qualified technician.
