SOURCE: Not printing color

Loks like there is a "well" under the "docked" position of the heads (at the right end of the unit, facing it - under the control buttons.) In my unit, ink had built up in this well to the point that some of the mechanical bits were scraping the top of the built-up ink pile. After I carefully removed about two TootsieRoll's-worth of old dried ink with a long scewdriver (using a flashlight to illuminate the area), the color printing seemed to be doing better. Can't tell yet if this has completely resolved the problem, as I have not yet printed enough pages to prove the point...

SOURCE: print job is totally black

I know you've tried some of the below suggtions but I put the whole list there for everyone else. If this printer is less than a year old call them. Their tech support has changed a lot! They try to take care of you.

Possible causes:

· Check/Replace the toner cartridge
· Check the charge roll assembly (see Note below)
· Check the Toner Darkness, Brightness, and Contrast settings
· Try cleaning the inside of the printer
· Bright light/sunlight entering the printer (on right side of printer)
· Printing on media other than plain paper (make sure you're using laser paper- it makes a difference!)
· Using a refilled cartridge. Lexmark will emphatically tell you they are not supported.

NOTE: Checking the charge roller:
1 Power off the printer and remove the toner cartridge.
2 Look into the upper area of the printer where the cartridge was sitting. Located near the top of the printer you will see a couple of gray rollers. This is the charge roller assembly. See the area highlighted in the image below.

NOTE: If you cannot see the rollers, close the upper lid slightly and the rollers should lower into view.

For larger version of this image, click here.

3 Make sure the roller assembly is seated correctly into the holders on the left and right-hand sides. If not, try to reseat the assembly into the holder arm.

IMPORTANT! If the charge roller assembly is not present, it needs to be installed. Look around the inside of the printer and near the printer for the roller assembly. If the charge roller assembly is missing, you will need to order a replacement set in order to get the printer operational again. See the 'Additional Assistance' section at the end of this document for more information.

4 If the rollers are present and installed correctly, check their condition. If the roller surface appears dirty, take a clean dry cloth and carefully clean off any dust or toner. Do your best to ensure all of the roller surface is clean. NOTE: If any part of the rollers is damaged, the charge roll assembly will need to be replaced.

CAUTION! Try not to touch the rollers with your bare hands. The surface is susceptible to contamination and a permanent mark could remain on the rollers.

5 If you were able to reseat the charge roller assembly or managed to clean the rollers, power on the printer and try printing again. Print 10 to 20 pages to give the pages a chance to clear up. If the pages do not begin to clear, the printer will likely require service to correct the issue.

For more information on arranging repair service, please contact Lexmark Technical Support or an authorized service center. See the 'Additional Assistance' section at the end of this document for details.

I have a HP Laserjet 4250 that is printing dirty prints. I have replaced the toner and the fuser unit and cannot correct the problem. I have 2 of these printers and the toner and fuser unit works no...

Try printing from the manual feed tray(tray 1). Put a few sheets of paper in the tray. Print anything that is more than two or three sheets of paper. The paper path test is good, 10 sheets. As the paper gets about halfway into the printer, open the top door. Pull out the toner cartridge. Look down at the paper. If it's dirty it has to be the toner or the transfer roller. If it's clean it could be a dirty paper path or fuser.
Vacuum out the printer, if you have mounds of toner laying in the paper path, everything that comes out of the printer will be dirty.

I have replaced the toner cartridge but now it keeps saying "no print cartridge", I have taken it out and back in several times, turned it on and off several times but still says no print cartridge...

I just had a customer with this problem. Turns out they had a paper jam. 1 piece of paper from the paper tray was about 1/3 of the way up the paper path (had some ink on it). But it was stuck. They should have had a paper jam error but instead had a "no cartridge installed" error. Go figure.

Black spots lined up on page - cleaning sheet didn't help

To tell if it's the fuser you can do a half way test, what you have to do is print a document, and open the front door of the printer to stop the print job half way through, you should see that half of the toner is fused to the paper and half is just applied to the paper, if you see the black lines on the fused side of the page its the fuser if you see it on the entire page it could be the etb or the cartridge.

possible fix:

This is a common issue with laser jet printer,

Try running cleaning modes under the service menu on the printer, run 5 back to back. if the issue is still showing, try using a different cartridge and run the cleaning mode again. If you have an old cartridge even if its close to being empty you can do an override on the printer to test the cartridge:
1.press ok
2.use the arrows and navigate to the system set up menu
3. press ok
4. print quality
5. press ok
6. override out
7.press ok and again ok to set

This could also be a build up of toner in the fuser assembly, and you may have to adjust the fuser temperatures in the embedded web server. You can print a blank word document (20 pages) and see if you still see black dots, if you do it is likely to be the fuser, set the driver and printer settings to card stock or heavy in order to heat the fuser more than the usual temp and print 30 blank pages this should resolve the issue. if this does not there could be damage to the ETB or the fuser assembly and servicing of the printer would be required.

take care,

Al

Magicolor 2400W error

This happens to me every few months, I have to do a VERY detailed cleaning of all toner sensors. The knowledgebase on KM's website is actually very good about walking you through which sensors to clean and pictures indicating where they are located. This has fixed me up every time. GOOD LUCK!

Eadch line of text is slightly faded at the bottom from laserjet 1100

It is possible that the transfer roller needs replacing as this causes it. Have you recently wiped clean the black roller that sits under the toner cartridge if you have you may have damaged it.

Best thing is to replace the transfer roller very easy to do and not expensive.

Hope this works for you and please rate me
