It's a mp3 player that we got in prison. It's locked with software that won't allow us to connect it to a computer and manage files unless we pay a $25 unlocking fee. We're trying to find out if there's a way to get around the software that has locked our files(that we paid for) in our player. It's not the switch eather. That's only for locking the key pad.

SOURCE: MP3 Locked...

The lock is a small silver slide switch located on the side of the unit labelled as "HOLD". Slide that back to the right.

SOURCE: Apple iPod MP3 Player 30GB

Wow sorry to hear about that :: Here is the info you need :: According to Apple, if you have forgotten the code, you can unlock the iPod nano or iPod by doing the following: Connect your iPod to the primary computer you use it with (the first one iPod synced with), and open iTunes. When you disconnect iPod from the computer, it will no longer be locked. If you can't unlock iPod using either [the code or connecting it to the computer you use to manage its songs]. . . you can restore your iPod to factory settings using iPod Updater. Please note that this will erase all data on your iPod. Afterwards, you can add your music and data back to your iPod. Apple also notes that company "representatives cannot unlock an iPod if you forget your combination. If you can't unlock your iPod and you don't have access to the primary computer, your only option is to restore the iPod, which will erase all music and data." I hope this helps

SOURCE: file error

With your mp3 player not playing any music, press and hold Search/Menu until the menu comes up (1-2 seconds). Scroll to the last chioce, which is Advanced Menu. Press your Play button to select it, select Format, select OK, and your mp3 player will be formatted. This WILL erase all of the music that you have on there, but reload it all with SonicStage, and you should be good to go.

2) unpack firmware
3) connect Rio Nitrus to your comp;
4)While holding menu buton press power button, you sholud see on display showing UPGRADER text;

5) Then upgrade the firmware ( note that this will erase all the songs- read the read me file that come with firmware);

Although I allready have the same version of firmware v.123 like the one that upgreded this solved the problemm.

I'm released from fed prison and need my mp3 player unlock where do I send it to do so or is there a way I can do it myself

Hello, Tara -

I found some information about the Federal prison MP3 players on the Zoukis Prisoner Resources web site (one of the suppliers of services and products to Federal prisons) here:
https://www.prisonerresource.com/prison-survival-guide/things-to-do-in-prison/mp3-players/

At the end of the information on that web page, it states:
(Quote)
When you leave prison you can take your MP3 Player with you, but you will have to mail it to the Advanced Technologies Group, and pay a $15 fee, for them to remove the 14-day revalidation security feature.
(End quote)

However, the article does not provide the address for Advanced Technologies Group to which you can send your MP3 player.

I did find the Advanced Technologies Group (Keefe Group) website however. I know Keefe supplies many products and services to prisons because I know some Keefe Group employees.

This is the link to the Advanced Technologies Group / Keefe Group Contact Us web page. The phone number for Advanced Technologies Group is in Des Moines, Iowa. Call that number and ask to find out about sending your MP3 player to them, with a check or other payment information.

Best wishes.

Need security software for amp'd mp3 player

Success! If you own an AMP'D MP3 player and have been suspicious about the manufacturer's claim that attaching it to a computer will disable it....you were right to be suspicious. Leaving the device turned OFF, attach it to your computer with a USB cable, after Windows cannot find a driver, go into DEVICE MANAGER and select the device and install the ADDONICS USB STORAGE DEVICE driver located under the UNIVERSAL SERIAL BUS CONTROLLER Header. Again, leave your MP3 Player OFF. After the driver installs Windows should assign the player a drive letter and then you can simply copy the music you have to your computer. Additionally, you can write TO the player, using it as a portable mass storage device.
