Does it makes any kind of sound when you boot? Is the HDD frozen or is it password protected? If it makes a clicking sound when you boot the computer then the HDD pointer inside the HDD is stuck.
If you can get to the BIOS, you can delete any password from the BIOS. If the HDD does not shows up in the BIOS, then your HDD is probably fry.
The HDD password is a BIOS function. A password is set and passed to the HDD. Then the BIOS on power up sends the password to the HDD and unlocks it on each boot. It could be your HDD is dead and so when BIOS sends pwd to HDD there is no response.Try BIOS reset to defaults
if it is not accepting your boot password, make sure your password is typed correctly hence no caps or caps num lock or no num lock etc.
If you have tried all that and failed, reset the cmos by removing the battery on the motherboard and leaving it out for atleast a minute to be safe. Place it back in and start the computer up. Everything should be reset to manufactures default and password should be removed. Please do not try this if your not technically trained or certified in this field.
if locked while booting up, before even windows is loading: you've got a master password in BIOS to worry about. No way but to ask the manufacturer to remove it. if you cannot access windows anymore after booting up: boot up from a win cd, go through setup, install a new copy of windows and try to find your personal files on the disk, back them up and reboot from a win cd again, this time format the whole harddisk and set up a clean, new installlation of windows.(warning: all beforehand data will permanently lost then)
