SOURCE: Electrolux #1521 Canister Vacuum won't stay closed

hi from uk your problem with the canister cover/door coming off whilst vaccing ? you have renewed bag ? ok but there is a filter/gauze also inside the canister where bag is fitted if you check inside you should see the filter at opposite end from where bag is secured it is usually fitted behind a slotted pull out plastic gate ? this filter/gauze is to allow air out of canister when vaccing and the filter traps any dust that may accumulate inside the canister case so the dust does not get blown out to atmosphere/rooms SO if this filter is clogged it will not allow vacced air to escape out of canister so result is build up of pressure within cylinder and eventually cover flips open ! so for now you can remove filter/gauze and wash then dry refit this will allow air to escape from canister but still retain dust particles from escaping as it is designed for however may i suggest you replace filter when convenient ? all above is on assuming that the latch on cover is working ok and not now damaged ? hope this helps best wishes

SOURCE: This silver metal triangle shaped thing popped out

I think it's a spring that goes on the bag holder itself... You have to sort of pop the bag holder up from it's hinges and see a little tab stick on the bottom, in the middle, pointing sideways. There's a little groove that the spring is supposed to line up with on one side, and if it's not in that place you put the spring on backwards and have to turn it around the other way so the end lines up. Then snap the holder back in, and make sure the spring is pushing against the vacuum so when it's in place, the holder pushes the bag up towards the lid. The spring is to keep the bag pressed up to the air intake, and doesn't push down very much.

How to get dog smell out of xl2600hh

Denise,
You need to do a bag wash of your outer bag. You will need to take the bag dock off if you have one of those on your vacuum or take off the "U" shaped clip if you do not have a bag dock and then pull the bag off of the connector assembly. You will also need to remove the plastic part at the bottom of the bag, you can usually use a flat blade screwdriver to pop that plastic part off. Turn your bag inside out and if you have a canister vacuum, vacuum the bag off the best that you can. If you do not have a canister vacuum, you could hose the bag off with a spray nozzle to get rid of any excess dirt. You then want to soak the bag in hot water with the Oreck Enzyme Odor Eater or with a good quality soap. I work at an Oreck store on weekends and we do this frequently. The Enzyme odor eater works great and leaves a nice smell behind in the bag fibers. We usually soak it overnight and then rinse the bag real well and then let it hang dry. If it is a nice sunny day, you can hang it outside and it should dry in 3 to 4 hours. Then you just reverse the process to put everything back together. Hope this helps!

Replace motor on Oreck canister vacuum

Richard,
That motor is still available and the part # you need is
09-72158-01. It normally retails for $59.99. Not sure where you live, but you should be able to find an Oreck dealer somewhere close that maybe can get it for you. Hope this helps!

Hi, I purchased a used Oreck BB870-AD canister vacuum cleaner, but it didn't come with the manual or any bags. Can you tell me where I can find the manual & what type of bags do I need?

The manual is available as a PDF here: http://www.oreck.com/Owners-Guides . Scroll down to the Canisters section and then select the link for the Compact Canister vacuum.

The replacement bag that you should use is: Oreck Replacement Treated Filter Bags (12 pk. with
1 Micro Filter) No. PKBB12DW which cost $14.99 for each package from Oreck. On the Oreck site, these are the Hand-Vac Bags. See: http://www.oreck.com/Hand-Vac-Bags to order them online.

I hope this helps.

A friend gave me her Oreck 1400 canister vac. It's like new, but has no "filter bag carrier." Where can I get one?

Sadly, your best and probably only bet for this is either an Oreck dealer or by calling the 1-800 line for Oreck customer service.

Oreck Vacuum Cleaner problem (upright)

The best solution to any Oreck vacuum problem is to replace it with another brand. You are going to continue having problems with the Oreck..Not that other brands don't have problems. But, at least with
other brands the problems don't occur as often. Belt burning up. clogs, roller brush bristle wearing down prematurely, cord breaking internally, etc.
P.S. Oreck is good at one thing. Marketing!
