Please try using Wireless 'G' mode only in the router. Also, try using 'TKIP' and not TKIP+AES for encryption.

Please rate this solution, if it works for you.

Change my settings from wep to wpa I have a belkin 54g

when you change the wireless security on the router , it is recommended tht you will change the wireless network name also ( SSID ). Because when you try to connect to the wireless network on the computer, your computer will try to connect to the same old network name with the old wireless security settings. To avoid this you can change the wireless network name. WPA is supported by windows XP SP2 and above operating system.
If the operating system on your computer WINDOWS XP SP1 and if you are trying to connect using the windows utility then you would not be able to connect to the network .

How do i secure my belkin 54g router? we only want people who are in the house to access it

Go to the setup page for the router (IP 192.168.1.1) and set up the WPA-PSK [TKIP] security. It will allow fairly simple setup, and only provide the pass code to house members.

Belkin 54 Wireless Internet Connection Problems

Hello,

If wireless adapter on the laptop is fairly old, you may need to update the drivers for the wireless adapter. Some older wireless adapters are not capable of properly communicating with WPA devices. Typically a driver update of the laptop resolves the issue. If not, try another wifi adapter and verify it is not the OS or laptop itself.

Good Luck.

Can't connect DSi with same security as comps

hello, yes i had the same problem, but i had it with many other computers, the way i solved it was going into the router settings and click the "restore default settings" then turned the router off for 15 seconds (for a fresh reboot) then when i had to set everything up again i got all my computers on the router and im able to add more without running into that same problem once again, or for a simpler solution try disconnecting the wireless on the computers and replugging them in.... that works sometimes as well

Secutiry for BelkinF5D7230-4 router using Vista

Hi, here's a quick guide for you:

1. Connect to the router via Ethernet cable

2. Login to the router via a web browser, by typing 192.168.2.1 in the address bar

3. Click to login, leaving password blank (unless you have set a password)

4. Go to Wireless > Security. Select Security Mode WPA-PSK.
Enter your network key (password) under ‘Pre-shared key’ – make a note of it – click ‘Apply Changes’. That’s it, your wireless is encrypted.

For better security/more details:

1. Pick up a manual from Belkin UK
2. When you’re in your user interface, change the SSID and router password for a better level of security (see this tip for more details).

Hope this helps, but please come back to Fixya if anything doesn't work, or if you need more info. Good luck
