  • Hold the Kindle in both hands with the back facing you. Make sure your fingers don't press on the screen.
  • Turn off the power to the Kindle. The power button is located on the back of the Kindle.
  • Locate the rear panel that slides off the device. One edge of this wraps around the edge of the Kindle. Hold the Kindle so this side of the back panel faces away from you.
  • Press down firmly with your thumbs on the edges of this panel and push the panel away from you. It should slide off gently.

How to delete kindle book from I pad

To remove books from ipad:

"In cover view: Tap on the cover for the title and hold it until the "X" appears on the cover. Then tap on the "X" to finish deleting the title. In List view: Swipe your finger across the title toward the left to display the Archive or Delete button. Content that is purchased from the Kindle Store is archived and can be re-downloaded at any time; sideloaded content and personal documents that are not archived in your Kindle Library are permanently deleted. Tap Archive or Delete to remove the book from your Home screen. Archived content will remain in your Archived Items."

How do i delete books

I think the new update on the kindle has it to where you have to login to your kindle account on Amazon, and remove it from your device that way. It is not taking up any space on your kindle now' it may just be the book cover, but login to your amazon account and remove that book from your selected Kindle.

Kindle, stuck in sleep mode

How to Reset Kindle - courtesy Andrei Pushkin
Kindle DX, Kindle 2 or Kindle 3: This is easy - just hold the power button (next to the headphone jack) for 15 seconds and the device will reboot.

Reset Kindle 1: This is trickier as you'll first have to remove the back cover; you'll also need a paperclip.

My Kindle 3 has been freezing up a lot; I have read it may be attributed to the cover. help

First-generation original Amazon leather covers without lighting interfered with internal electronics of the Kindle 3 - the hinge mechanism in the cover that hooks into the Kindle is also used to connect the lamp built into the lighted covers to the Kindle battery as power source. The problem does not occur with covers that actually have the lamp.

You can find out by removing the cover. If the problem goes away, you should contact Kindle support for a replacement. Amazon reportedly refunds covers suffering from the flaw plus a voucher for the price difference to the lighted cover version, effectively upgrading the non-lighted cover to the lighted one.

My kindle went to sleep and now won't turn on.

Some older Kindle covers (original Amazon leather covers, non-lighted versions only) interfere with electrical contacts inside the Kindle via the hinge clamps that connect the cover to the Kindle. If you have such a cover, remove it first. If not, just continue with the next steps.

Make sure your Kindle is fully charged before you continue.
  • Note, the Kindle merely goes to a suspend mode if you give the on/off switch a short nudge only, it does not really switch off.
  • Slide and hold the on / off switch until after the power light flashes three times. This takes about five seconds.
  • If the device boots now, wait until its finished and you can use it again.
  • If the screen just goes blank, do the slide-and-hold again.
  • If the Kindle still does not boot, there is a defect that cannot be cured by a simple reset. You will need to contact Kindle support for warranty repair.
Check if your Kindle works normally again. If you removed a cover before, re-attach the cover now. Observe the Kindle's behavior, if the same thing happens again with cover attached, contact Kindle support. The reported Amazon policy in such cases is to refund your cover and add a voucher for the price difference to the lighted version, so essentially your non-lighted cover gets exchanged for a lighted one. Not a bad deal.

Not remembering my place in book suspect device is rebooting have heard of this problem caused by kindle cover (I have non lighted amazon leather version).

The lighted version gets power for the light from the hooks used to attach the device to the cover. Early versions of the non-lighted cover are reported to interfere with the hidden power connectors.

You can find out, by removing the cover and see if the problem goes away.

If you feel your Kindle suffers from this problem, contact Amazon Kindle customer support (go to HERE, click on "Kindle Support" in the upper right and on the next page find the "Contact us" button). According to other customers who had the same issue, Amazon replaces the faulty non-lighted cover for a lighted one at no extra costs.

My New Amazon kindle 3g just froze and I don't know how to take off the back cover what do i do?

Do not remove the back cover, there are no user serviceable parts inside. Instead:
  • Make sure the Kindle's battery is charged. Connect to a PC using the supplied USB cable until the power LED changes colour from amber to green.
  • Slide and hold the power button until after the power LED blinks three times. If the screen now is blank, repeat the procedure
If the Kindle still does not come back to life, contact Kindle Support.
