Brother MultiFunction Center MFC-440CN All-In-One InkJet Printer Logo

Wont print shows no cartridge or empty ink on yellow & magenta. Why cant I print in black? I have the Brother MFC440CN all in one printer. I have tried everything. Bought new cartridges, but only yellow and magenta print in the tests. Black stopped printing and only 1 blue line appears in the test pattern. I bought a new black cartridge and it still prints nothing, but looks like it is working.

What are you trying to print in black? the best way to test out a black ink is to open word pad and type some thing random and print it and see if that works. if you have a all in one printer u might have 2 inks one color and one black in the printer

I replaced an ink cartridge because the printer stopped working and showed a message that the old cartridge is empty. However after putting the new one in but the printer still refuses to work and shows...

maybe the cartridge is wrong, release it and clean the electrical contacts, put them again one by one, if notting happen, try this
Solution As the printer operates, it moves ink from the ink cartridges into a printhead reservoir. The printer does not deliver a message when an ink cartridge goes empty, because it still has ink in the reservoir. The printer continues printing until the ink level in the reservoir falls to a first trigger point - then a message appears advising the printer owner to Replace Cartridges Soon . At this point, other cartridges that are empty but have not reached the trigger point are also mentioned in the message, to save trips to the retailer. After the first trigger point, the printer can continue printing until ink levels in the reservoir reach a second trigger point. At the second trigger point there is only enough ink left to perform vital servicing tasks, and a new message appears, saying Ink Cartridges Empty . The options offered depend on the usable inks remaining. If no options are offered, the cartridges indicated must be replaced before printing can continue. The Ink Cartridges Empty options are described in the table below: Ink colors out Option Print mode possible All Cancel None Black

AND

Cyan, Magenta, or Yellow (any or all) Black only Continue with other colors Cyan/Magenta/Yellow mode (composite black)

Text and photo quality will differ from those printed when all colors are available Light Cyan or Light Magenta (either or both) Cyan, Magenta, or Yellow (any or all)

(Black still available) Print with black ink only Grayscale

I REPLACED MY INK IN THE EPSON NX110 PRINTER

ALL…. Epson & Brother Requires Genuine Cartridges. !!!!!!!!

In Purchasing Epson's CX 5400, CX4600, & CX7400 and more, I found out that Epson does not like Generic Printer Cartridges. I also Purchased a Brother. That also does not like Generic Print Cartridges. Color that should be Yellow, will turn out Green, Blue Brown, etc.

These printers have a CHIP that will detect if it is Generic or Genuine. When they see it’s Generic Cartridges, it will print lines thru the words, stripes across the picture and also do a mix match with the colors. It also will not let you print anything, if any of the cartridges are empty.

I wanted to print only Black, and would not let me, because I did not have any ink in one of my cyan cartridges. Go figure.

That's what these Companies do., so they can keep selling the ink cartridges. Some Printers, are able to use Generic, and some are refillable. Some you can refill them up yourself and I heard, quite MESSY.

So I learned, thru trial and error, that you must use the ORIGINAL Genuine Cartridges for these PRINTERS. Some people say some models work fine compatible, but not mine.......

I had to replace the printer, but Epson, Lexmark & Brothers are always on sale. My Brother & Epson cost me $50.00 with Rebate. .

This is the only advice I can give you. If you find this helpful, pls rate me.

Thanks and Good Luck :0)

Printer will not print dut to other color cartige. being empty.

The color cartridges print text that appears black by mixing the three primary colors (cyan, magenta, and yellow) to make composite black. To achieve a realistic black, large quantities of colored ink are used. Because black cartridges use much less ink to create a similar shade of black, they print more pages in black than the color cartridge.
If the color cartridges on the printer are next to empty, you will not be able to get perfect prints at all.

Please have the cartridges replaced to do the printing jobs again.

Wont print

Dear, when the cateridge get out of order, it disturbs the normal fucntions, you need to remove the color cateridge and check the printer with only one black cateridge to make printer work as a balck. The problem is with color cateridge, by removing it you can resolve it. The other way is to unintsall the dirver of printer and unplug it from the sytem, re-boot the system. Install the driver again, this will make the utility to show the right level of ink. Please try this, your problem will be resolved.

Best regard.

Colour Ink Jet Cartridges emptying during a black ink print run

Hi,
If you go to your printer properties, there should be a setting whereby you have to select the option to "PRINT USING BLACK CARTRIDGE ONLY". Make sure this option is selected, otherwise your printer will use ALL colors even if you only print black.
Let me know if you need any further assistance.
Best wishes,
