Kenmore 80 Series draining problem

Kenmore 80 Series Heavy Duty washing machine suddenly will not drain. Tried different settings, nothing. My Kenmore Series 80 often fails to drain in the Wash cycle. The Permanent Press cycle works fine. All cycles' fill and agitation works fine. So this sounds like a Timer problem. Other than simply replacing the timer, is there anything about it that I can check? Thanks, Ed

I tried it on all different settings and when it gets to the drain and spin cycle it just stops. Ive tried it on every setting Permanent press, short cycle regular and nothing works. I've tried raising and lowering the lid and I even push the lid switch with a key and that does nothing

Check the following before replacing the timer.

1. Clogged drain line or water pump
Check to see if there's something stuck inside the pump or the drain hose connected to the pump (pump is usually located at the bottom and towards the back of the washing machine).

2. Water Pump
If the drain line isn't clogged, you may have a problem with the water pump such as a frozen pulley or a broken impeller. If that's the case replace the water pump. Note: if you have a belt driven washer, check the belt(s) for cracks, as this would be a perfect time to replace the belt(s) if needed.

If everything checks out ok with the pump and hoses, replace the timer.

Kenmore Heavy Duty Series 70 washing machine gets stuck in cycle.

Either your timing motor has broken or the gears that it drives are stripped. The timing motor is easy to replace but if the gears are stripped you will need a whole new dial assembly.

Kenmore 80 Series Heavy Duty washing machine suddenly will not drain. Tried different settings, nothing.

Unplug washer for 10 min to reset curcuit board. Then select the spin cycle. Selecting too many cycles in a short period of time can confuse the little brain in the board.

Kenmore washing machine will not drain

Replace the timer.
This is a neutral drain machine. If there is no natural pause in the timer at the end of the rinse cycle the timer is bad.
