go into the device manager and make sure it has an imaging device listed in there.

If it doesn't then let me know if there are any yellow question marks in there.

I had this same problem and it is fixable, but not the way you would probably like, though you can still scan with the printer. You just have to open the Paint program and click from scanner or camera, and then choose your printer and click scan preview, and then scan, it works just fine but its a little time consuming.

The scanner has quit working. Error message says printer cannot connect. Printing works find from computer. Copying too.

Switch off the scanner and disconnect the usb cable then restart your computer.

When the computer has booted up, reconnect the scanner usb. Try the scanner.

If the problem persists try re-downloading and installing the scanner software

I just bought A Kodak esp 3250 series AIO printer. I can print from computer, copy and all that but whenever I try to scan to computer or even preview scan I get a error saying :An error occurred while...

Try a new USB cable. Scanners require bidirectional communication with the computer and thus can fail when printer itself works. (If you use a print server or USB hub, try a direct connection.) Also try changing USB ports.

Another thing to try is to remove the TWAIN driver and reinstall it. This requires the original software CD from Kodak.
1. From your computer desktop, click Start > Run. (In Windows 7, type run in the search box then click on Run.)
2. Type %windir%, then click OK.
3. Double-click twain_32.
4. Right-click Kodak, then select Delete.
5. Insert the KODAK All-in-One Printer Software CD into the appropriate drive, then go to D: > printer > scanner.
NOTE: The CD is indicated by D: above. The CD drive may be a different letter on your computer.
6. Double-click aioscannr.msi, then follow the instructions to remove it.
7. Go to D: > printer > scanner, then double-click aioscannr.msi, and follow the instructions to install the file.
8. Open Home Center Software:
a. Select Scan Documents and Pictures.
b. Scan a document.

Unfortunately, if the error persists, the scanner may need service. Contact Kodak: http://www.kodak.com/go/contact .

I hope this helps.

SCANNER ON MY PRINTER NO LONGER IS WORKING.

Try making a copy. If it does not make a good copy then the scanner has failed. If it makes a good copy the USB cable might have a bad connection. The scanner can be replaced but finding an exact match can be a challenge but I might be able to find a good used one.

My printer works fine using the "print" button on screen and the "copy" button on the computer. When I select the "scan" button on the printer it tells me the USB cable is not connected.

Check the owner's manual if the scanner requires USB 2.0 to operate correctly. If it does your USB cable needs to be 2.0 specification instead of the original 1.1 specification. That would go for the computer as well.

If the above comments don't apply uninstall the software for both the printer and scanner; restart the computer; re-install all the software; restart the computer... and it should work unless the scanner part of the printer has a problem.

Scanner & Copier doesn't work

If you get this error when trying to scan from the computer try starting the scan directly from the device and see if that works. If not, unplug and replug the USB cable(assuing you are connected to the computer via USB cable) and install the driver, if you get any plug and play prompts. Let me know if this doesn't work.

Canon pixma MX310 scanner not working

I read somewhere that the printer/scanner must be plugged directly into the computer in order to scan.  I tried it, and it works.  Printing can be done wirelessly, but apparently not scanning!

All in One Scanner/Printer problems

Go to this link and type "cannot communicate with scanner" in the search box. Click Search. Then select the "ERROR: Cannot communicate with scanner" link. You will see several things to try to correct your problem. Usually, this error shows up if there is another USB device connected which prevents the computer from "seeing" the scanner, even though it can print without problem. So do try to disconnect any other USB device (except mouse or keyboard) and reboot the system.
