This problem is beyond a blown fuse most likely. The fuses for the unit are located on the circuit boards and the back will need to be removed to access them. This problem could be due to a missing voltage that is used to turn on the picture section of the electronics. I would search for a used unit on ebay or parts on ebay and swap out the boards. The board swap is not too complex but voltages are dangerous within the set and service by a qualified electronics technician is recommended on this unit. Thanks and good luck. Dan

Akai PT5598HDI Rear Screen Projection TV With Blue Shadowing

If the ghosting is like a 3D effect its your convergence ICs , but if its like a blue Halo around objects that usually means your CRT coolant has congealed and will need replacement. The blue is the first tube to congeal for some reason, followed by green. Red seems to be not quite as prone to this. It is a normal occurrence n sets about 4 years old to need the coolant changed.

AKAI PT5598HDI Colors out of line and picture is bowed in on bottom and top.

http://www.fixya.com/support/t1663670-akai_samsung_pt4299hd_convergence Adjust the convergence manually. It's a pain and takes alot of patience. The diagram for the remote buttons helps a lot. If it won't adjust you'll have to replace a part inside the tv. Good luck! Hopefully it'll adjust.

I have a 55 inch Akai rear projection tv.When I turnit on,the red timer light blink, and that is all.I've heard about this problem on here before. No pic and no sound

on the main board of the tv there is a fuse located if that is faulty this can happen, there are also many other possibilities but check out the fuse first many a times replacing the fuse solves the problem as its very negligible to replace the fuse the cost of fuse is under $1.
