You can get the screen at Kindle Repair and there is a guide that shows you how to put in the screen at Electronics Repair Guide.

You can't buy the screen for self-install/repair. They will only sell it to you if you pay for their installation, and shipping back and forth, which makes repairing it not a cost-effective solution.

  • Anonymous Jul 27, 2012

They will not sell the screen for anyone to self-install, so you have to pay an install fee and shipping back and forth, which equals not cost effective to repair.

If Amazon declines to repair it for free, Mission Repair offers $149 Kindle 2 Screen Repair service (parts and labor included). 24 hour turnaround and parts are in stock and they offer pick up service for your Kindle.

Given how cheap the newer Kindles are, I would rather buy a new one than fix the existing one at that price.

If you can take it apart and replace it by yourself without any technical support. You can get the screen kits on Ebay.

Replaced the screen on Kindle Fire HD8 6th. After putting back together certain parts of the screen don't respond to touch.

Sometimes the flex cable that connects the touch screen comes lose when reassembling. You will need to take it back apart and check all connections. If the flex cable is fully set then there are two things that can be wrong.

1: The screen and or cable is bad. The flex cable is very fragile and can tear easily. Inspect the flex cable for small tears or sharp folds. Also look for missing components on the flex cable. The solder pads are shiny if none was there and dull if there was something there

2: The pressure connector on the motherboard is broken or not fully seating. Look at the pins on the back of the connector to see if any part of it came loose. You may need a magnifying glass to inspect it.

If all looks well then it may be a bad touchscreen.

How do i get my kindle to turn on after replacing the screen? i have tried rebooting and that doesn't work, also took it apart twice to see if all was in place. can you help me please

Dear Lorraine, could you please provide us with some details so we could try to find a solution to your problem?
1) What is your Kindle model?
2) Was the battery fully charged when you tried to turn it on?
3) Were all small connectors re-attached to their respective counterparts in the Kindle's circuit board?
4) Have you checked if the new screen is also broken (could have happened during transportation) and hence, will not show anything on it?

Anyway, while we wait for your answers to these questions, you could try to to leave the Kindle charging for some two or three hours and then try to reboot it again (check if the charging LED is also turning on, during the charging period and if it changes color when the device is fully charged).

We will be waiting for your answers in order to try to find a suitable solution.

How do I fix my broken screen on my Kindle fire hdx with a frozen screen.

CONTACT AMAZON CUSTOMER SERVICE. I hope its under a warranty/service contract. Replacing a broken screen off coverage is expensive. If the screen under it is frozen its likely the dropping caused more problems than just the broken screen.

The screen on my Amazon Kindle 3G is partially white and partially black with white lines running through it. It has been charged but does not respond when I turn it on. Do you think it is worth fix

It's broken :(

There are companies who will replace the screen for about the same price as a brand new Kindle BASIC. personally I would suggest:
- buy a new Kindle BASIC for 59gbp;
or
- download any of the FREE kindle apps and just finish your library reads for free whilst you look around for a replacement.

If you want a TABLET rather than a eReader remember ANY tablet will download the free Kindle app so you can read your books on a Fire or a ASUS or a NEXUS or a iPad or anything really :)

Good luck.

Some person sat on my kindle and you can only see part of the pictures

1) if you are tech savvy and can take apart small electronics... What version of kindle is it?

2) if you are not able to dismantle electronics, find a local computer repair shop or search online for someone who can replace the screen for you.

3) send it to amazon? warranty? replace it as it appears to have a damaged screen.

I would offer to fix it for you, however I recently packed up all of my tools for working on small electronics.

My kindle wont turn on

If the kindle won't turn on because it was recently dropped or water was spilled on it or something, you should consult your warranty. If this is due to no external event/damage you should call amazon and see whether or not there's an update in software or a bug of sorts. If it's on their behalf you'll get a replacement device. Good luck!

Kindle 3 wi-fi - no response when switched on - battery has been charged and grren light comes on but screen graphic remains. I've tried holding switch on for 15+ seconds.

If the 15 second reset does not work, I would suggest contacting amazon. They can connect to your device and see if there is something wrong with your actual kindle. If there is something wrong they are usually pretty good about replacing broken kindled :)

New kindle 3 . screen has frozen.

Amazon might help you with this because it is so new. However if you dropped it (etc.) and if HTC doesn't replace it for you, You can get the part at Kindle 3 Repair and there is a guide that shows you how to put in the part at Kindle Repair Guide.

Damaged Kindle 2 Screen

The screen needs to be replaced and you have to fully disassemble it to do that. You can try to replace it yourself or send it to a third party Amazon Kindle repair service.
