Maytag performa pavt454eww . fills,washes fine,then refills for rinse cycle,clicks to spin,no draining and spins very slowly(due to not draining prior to spin)too heavy? i find water and clothes when buzzer goes off. now if i reset selector back around to spin, it will drain and reach full speed and clothes are spun enough to dry

The cheaper thing to check first is is your lid bent? The lid switch is in the center of the lid. If it "droops" or has been bent, it shaft on the back of the lid cant hit the switch. Open the lid and apply pressure in the bottom, center of the lid. This usually corrects the problem without replacing the switch.

Seems you need a lube job on the centrifical mechanical switch that fully engauges the spin cycle( part of the pully to shaft assembly)

sounds like you have a tub seal problem, which took out the bearings, I take it one buzy mom does lots of laundry! Maybe time for a new washer.

Your pump is probably what's causing the noise . Usually the bearing starting to go out , causing the pump to freeze up , begins with this noise .
