Want to change my air filter but not sure where it's located

  • elainebeilma May 31, 2009

    It's a 6.0 brigggs and stratton.

THANKS SO MUCH!!! I'd never done it before and the $80 the shop charged for an oil and filter change was crazy. It was perfect.

To know for sure, I need to know what kind of engine is on it. Toro only makes the mower, the engine is made by another company. Assuming it's a Briggs and Stratton in the 4-6 hp range, it would be behind a flat vertical cover on the right side with one screw at the top. Part # 491588

I'm glad that was what you needed. If that solved your problem, I'd appreciate a 'FixYa' rating instead of a 'Helpful'. Makes my rating percentage higher. Thanks Dwain

I have a 22" self propelled toro recycler, never

did u turn it on its side? change the air filter. change the plug. turning it on its side could cause a fouling in the plug or air filter to fill up with oil and shoot out on the deck. Use Stabil in the gas in the off season.

You may have overserviced the oil.

Toro super recycler mower will not stay running, has fuel and oil and air filter was just replaced

Try replacing the fuel and spark plug. Gas may be bad. Get some fresh from the station not from the can sitting in the garage.
Drain the fuel system and put the fresh gas in.

Mower runs very rough

Sounds like a bad diaphragm in the carburetor.

Toro recycler will run until primed gas is consumed.

The problem is that the gas that sat in the carb all winter glazed it over and gummed it up. Begin by going to any auto parts store, like an aiutozone, and getting a bottle of carb. cleaner. Seafoam is one I use. Add it to your gas, one ounce per gallon of gas. Also, pick up a can of engine starting spray.

Remove the air filter and spray the engine starting spray into the air intake. Pull start the engine and give it additional squirts of engine starting spray until it runs smoothly.
