I have Karcher model K3.86M electric pressure washer. The unit pulses on and off without depressing the trigger on the wand. Other solutions here state that the problem is with a faulty Control Valve / Spill valve. I have taken the machine apart in an attempt to solve the problem myself. Can someone, such as Fulltech, explain where I find this spill valve as I would like to try to examine and lube this piece before I have to buy a new one. If I know what it looks like or where on the machine it is, I can service it.

If you have a Karcher then you should always post your machines barcode.
Because you have the low pressure and pulse this will be the valve block. Your machine has 3 piston and each has 2 valves (inlet and outlet). Because you dont have the barcode, i cant be sure if you will buy a valve kit of 6 valves or a pre-assembled manifold block.
The karcher barcode is on a silver sticker and is usually 15 digits long. Example 156987400000123 is actually model 1.569-874.0 and serial number 00123....
This fault is within the control head, under the detergent valve is a small spring loaded valve that acts to induce the detergent, this will have failed, the shaft of the component breaks off the disk base leaving a small hole in the centre of the disk. This is enough to allow pressure past the component. The machine will pulse when operated and will not induce the detergent. I've looked everywhere to find this part as I have a karcher with the same fault.
I do not have specific experience of your machine.
However, the high pressure pump will be controlled by a pressure switch on the high pressure outlet to the pipe and jet.
Pulsing (turning off) suggests that the outlet (high pressure) pipe is blocked or partially blocked.
Try checking the nozzle and (with the unit turned off) clearing it with a fine piece of wire.
Hope this works

this Karcher unit have a termal overload in the motor but your problem can be cause by a pressure switch the shutt on and off the motor when you stop spraying.
Is liquid leaking from the base, when the Pressure washer is on ?
I have the same Problem, the leak is from the seam of the Manifold housing. There is a small crack in the seam. A manufacturing defect.. A New Manifold Complete Replacement is $61.03, about the half the price what I paid for this pressure washer at Walmart... :(
If under 1 year old, and you can find a receipt,Karcher will replace the whole Pressure washer under warranty.
Not Simple.
I have the same Problem, the leak is from the seam of the Manifold or on the pressure side of the Pump and the hose housing. In my case there is a small crack in the seam of the Manifold Housing. A manufacturing defect.. A New Manifold Complete Replacement about the half the price what I paid for this pressure washer at Walmart... :(
