Ac power cable connection

When i plug it in, i have to twist the cable to get the glowing light to come on. So the connection went bad in the computer. I dont think getting a new ac adapter will work. i don't want to get a similiar used computer and swap out the hard drive. can i get a battery with a charger that connects to an outlet for power?

Its a bad pack why not buy one for $8 and not try to do hacking or worse? why think its not bad,? if you used a voltmeter at the mobo side, you know that it was or was not, ONLY!
i cant see you twist things,?
if the mobo jack is bad, on the mobo
there are only 2 fixes for that.
1: buy a new mobo (or new PC)
2: buy the jack and solder it on your self. or a tech do that.

here:
1: new coin cell RTC battery is first.
2: get the main battery out, the bigone they short and overload, the regulators. and the power pack.
leave the big battery out , work better now???????
3: try a new $8 pack. work ok now.?
4: ok we check the Jack next, at the mobo side. for damage
common this is .. for sure something SO OLD. but is only 6 year old I see. not tool old but no spring chicken sure.

RTC coin on page 53 pdf.
http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c02985882

now i look inside for you,. reading your manual for you and
see what./
I see this.
lucky you, the jack is cable'IZED
NOT the direct mobo type.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/DC-Power-Jack-Harness-Cable-HP-Compaq-Presario-CQ60-203NR-CQ60-204NR-CQ60-206US/110962776204?hash=item19d5e5988c:g:I~QAAMXQs~ZRl7Mb

see that.
so if that fails, power is lost.
easy no?/ no power no go.

SOURCE: no power

You sound like you have either a dead power supply inside or a dead motherboard. Best thing is to open it up and test each. replace the culprit.

SOURCE: Hard Drive will not boot in Compaq Presario C700

BIOS checksum errors occurs when either the BIOS chjp is faulty or most likely the BIOS battery is nearly flat and the stored info changes and doesn't match the checksum info.
Replace the battery with a new one, leave the battery out for 1/2 hour before inserting the new battery. The BIOS will be reset to the default settings, you need to configure it again eg, datr and time etc.

Have you tried attaching an external monitor when the LCD screen is disconnected from the motherboard? this connector is located under the keyboard strip – a piece of plastic just above the keyboard.
If it works, this way, then the video cable isn’t seated properly in the connector on the back of the screen. Plugging the video cable back in should fix the problem.
I don’t know how comfortable you are with taking apart laptops but I think that this information could be useful for you.

Driving along lights dimmed, instrument panel died, loss of power then engine cut out & wouldn't start. Starts with a jump but when i turn key to heat glow plug, instrument panel goes mad

I assume there's a problem with alternator. Check the grounding to engine, check continuity of a positive wire between alternator and battery. the energizing voltage should be checked as well. Might be the bad connection between battery and vehicle body grounding. Diesel cars are sensitive even in a little loss of connection and rust in the connection points.

Glow plug light blinks while driving . Glow plugs seem to work normal as well as everything else. This started after several fuses were pulled out and checked for condition and put back in.

bad fuse conection. pull them out put some dielectric grease and put back in. if the fuse comes out very easy twist the fuse prongs alittle so it fits tighter.

How to charge the starter

Stephan, plug the wall charger into an outlet, then attached the glow driver to the end of the cable same as you would if attaching it to the glow plug. Generally and push and twist. When you get it on there, a charge light on the charger will light up. Let it charge overnight. Good luck

Does not want to start unless i twist battery cables when it does start it is fine but after a while d gauges start going up and down. at one point of time the ac when completely out but can back on...

Hi, twisting the cables should not matter unless one of them is bad or not connected well. Inspect the cables for weak points and clean and tighten them at both ends. If this doesn't not solve the problem, please get back to me.

If a PC suddenly fails to boot properly, you should perform a hard reset as the first action. Performing the hard reset will correct many problems. If the computer still does not start properly, select your symptom from the list below to guide you to the recommended corrective actions.
  1. Disconnect all peripheral devices and remove all USB devices and SD media cards. You want to test the computer not the accessories!
  2. Disconnect the AC power adapter, remove the battery, and then press and hold the power button for at least 15 seconds to drain all residual power and restore default startup settings.
  3. Reconnect the AC power adapter (but do not insert the battery), Press the Power button, Look for glowing LEDs near caps lock and num lock keys, and Listen for sounds of a fan or other moving parts turning.
  4. If the computer does not start, the LED lights do not glow, and the display is black, you can perform one or more of the following actions to resolve the no power issue.
    • Verify the computer is receiving power from the AC adapter . Verify that the AC adapter is not damaged and is connected correctly to a working wall outlet plug. Verify AC power is connected to the system board by examining the AC adapter, wiring, and pin connection for damage. The keyboard LEDs will glow when AC power is connected to the system board. Damaged components, like the AC adapter or the pin in the power connector, may require an HP-certified repair.
    • Use a different AC power adapter . If you have access to a different AC adapter or power pack that is designed for the computer, connect it to the notebook and try to start the computer. If you own or have access to more than one notebook, verify that you are using the adapter which belongs to the notebook. CAUTION: Using a power adapter that does not meet the power requirements or has the wrong type of connector may damage the computer. On newer notebook models, connecting the wrong adapter to the notebook may cause the power LED lights to blink but not power the computer.
    • Remove the battery and boot on AC power only . A discharged or defective battery may prevent the AC adapter from supplying enough power to start the computer. To verify that power from the AC adapter is available for PC; remove the battery, connect AC power adapter, and press power button. If available, try using a different AC adapter, that is rated for the PC, and repeat this test.
    • Remove the AC adapter and boot on battery power only . A defective AC adapter may not charge the battery and prevent the computer from booting on battery power only. To verify battery power available for the PC; connect AC power adapter, allow battery to charge for 30 minutes or more, disconnect the power adapter and press power button. If available, try using a fully charged battery, of the same type, from another computer and repeat this test.
      • If LEDS do not glow and the fan or hard drive do not spin, battery may need to be replaced.
      • If tests of both the battery and the AC adapter fail, there may be a problem with system board requiring service by HP.
      • If LEDs glow and PC boots, the AC adapter may need to be replaced.
      • If LEDs glow, but PC does not boot go to LEDs glow, fan is heard, but display is black or blank section.

A Deisel jetta need to replace glow plug rely ,,where is it..?? And its very very hard to start ..is this going to do it and how do you know if the deisel is worth keeping it has like 300,000 _ thanks...

not always the golw plugs can be bad and the engine can be low on compression. does it start alot better if you add a gallon of kerosene to 5 gals of desiel? Or a quaart of gas? the glow plugs can be checked with a test light the connectrs are in plain veiw and the wires going to them are big. Follow the wires back to the relay they go straight there, the relay is real close to the battery as it draws alot of power follow the big wire on the battery that doesn't go to the starter and thats the glow plug relay. they last good but the connections get dirty, reconnect all the connectors on itand see with the key on if the glow plug light comes on on the dash that wire that lights the light is the same wire that lights the light fires the glow plugs. You can take the wire off the glow plug( you need to do it anyway it's a yearly service anyway and with a test light connected to power touch the disconnected glow plug with the lights probe and the light should light, not all of them are likly to be bad but if you find two or more just change them all as the ones that aren't out are likly to fail anytime and if you want to drive though the winter you need all the help you can gt. the battery cables and the one going to the glow plug relay are likly to fail at the battery so go over this good It might start fine with just two glow plugs working I'd pick the two center cyclinders or the two outboard ones as once the engine starts it'll keep running long enough to start the other ones. low voltage as your cranking can effect the glow plugs but the relay is suposed to turn the glow plugs off at cranking and time out after they've been on long enough. dirty connections are almost always the problem so clean everthing before you replace anything. Needs cleaned before yu put on new parts anyway and the glow plugs need to be taken out with the right tool or you may end up with a broken off glow plug in your cyclinder head.

I have a HP dv7 laptop it does not work with the ac adapter but worked with the battery, whenever it is working with the battery and the ac adapter is connected it shuts down.

Remove the battery and plug the ac adaptor in check wethere the light on the port where you connect the ac adaptor glows or not, if no then check the wethere the ac adaptor is getting warm or not after you plug it in for few minutes if not then ac adaptor has to be replaced.
If the light on the port is glowing then it is likely that the power supply of the notebook has gone bad as it is not able to switch to ac adaptor or the port where you connect the ac adaptor to the notebook has a short circut when the acadaptor pin is connected , better try with a different ac adaptor to be sure wethere the issue is with ac adaptor or the notebook.
My best wishes

Toshiba satelitte adapter went bad ordered new one it wont work

If the old one works you have another power supply or wrong one.
Check the properties of your power supply.

Related to your issue you also may consider this:

1.- Computer AC / DC cable is bad not allowing the computer battery to charge.
2.- Battery is bad.
3.- Battery charger board is bad.

Solutions:
1.- Computer AC / DC cable is bad not allowing the computer battery to charge
Verify that the AC and or DC cable is not bad by testing the computer only with the power plug connected and the battery out of the laptop.
2.- Battery is bad
It is possible that if the power plug is good that the computer battery is bad. Leave the computer connected to the power with the battery connected in the computer for at least one hour; if the battery does not charge, consider having the battery and/or the laptop serviced or repaired.
If the computer and/or battery is not in warranty consider just replacing the battery as it is very likely that it is just a bad battery.
3.- Battery charger board is bad
If the battery has been replaced or an alternate battery from an alternate identical laptop does not work in the computer, it is likely that the power or charger board within the laptop is bad. It is recommended that the laptop be serviced or repaired.
