SOURCE: 50 pt. dehumidifier will not

Nothing worked, because the drain hole to the hose connection is clogged or the hose is clogged. When that happens, water is diverted to the bucket.

Turn the Master ON/OFF Switch to OFF & Unplug the unit.

Remove the hose and check it for clogs. If none are found, the clog is inside the hose connector.

Using an 18" long plastic Zip Tie appropriately sized to fit the hole. Carefully insert the tip of the Zip Tie and continue to push it in, until you reach a bend in the tubing. You will have to gingerly work the Zip Tie past the bend, until it bottoms out or you run out of usable Zip Tie. Then slowly remove the Zip Tie while rotating (twisting) it. This will break up any clogs. As you reach the inserted end of the Zip Tie, be prepared as some water that might follow. Even if you don't see any residue from a clog, it may have been pushed out of the way. Reinstall everything, plug the unit in, turn the Master ON/OFF Switch to ON and take it for a test drive.

Be sure the hose is no longer than 5 feet and that it gradually slopes down and away from the unit. The water drainage relies entirely on gravity.

Hope this helped you troubleshoot and solve the problem.

SOURCE: just purchased a Frigidaire 50

There may be a clog in the hose, which should be no longer than 5 feet or there is a clog inside the hose connection. Possibly some packing debris. To solve the problem, do the following:

Turn the unit OFF and unplug it.
Disconnect the hose from the hose connection. Using an appropriately sized, 18" long, plastic Zip Tie, carefully insert the tip of Zip Tie into the hole or tubing. Continue to push it in until you reach a bend in the tubing. You will need to gingerly work the Zip Tie past this bend, until it either bottoms out or you run out of usable Zip Tie. Then slowly pull the Zip Tie back out while rotating (twisting) it. This will breakup any clogs. As you reach the inserted end of the Zip Tie, be prepared, as some water may follow. Reconnect the hose to the hose connection, plug the unit in and turn the Master ON/OFF Switch to ON. Set the humidity extraction level to 35% or Maximum if you have a manually controlled unit. Allow the unit to run for an hour, while you monitor it for any leakage or drainage into the bucket.

NOTE: If you don't have a Zip Tie, you may use something similar ( i.e.a long pipe cleaner), but NO wire coat hangers.

If it still doesn't drain thru the hose. Remove the water bucket and check the top for a float valve. It may be stuck in the UP position. If it is, jiggle it to make it return to the down position.

I hope this helped you troubleshoot and solve the problem.

SOURCE: It collects some water but it also spits water out

The dehumidifier has a non-removable tray under the coils (they look like radiators) that collects and drains the water away. If the tray or drain gets clogged with dirt or slime the water doesn't drain away well. Some water is picked up by the fan and is blown out the vent. Take the covers off the machine and give everything a good cleaning. If you get water on any electrical parts, let the machine dry thoroughly before plugging in.

SOURCE: Frigidaire dehumidifier is not collecting water;

There are 5 basic, but solvable reasons for what you described. Please pay particular attention to numbers 1 & 2..

1. The humidity extraction level is set to HIGH. Lower it to 32-35%. If you have an analog unit
set the humidity extraction knob on Maximum.

2. Air intake filter is dirty or clogged. Turn unit OFF, & Unplug the
Unit, before removing to inspect & clean it, if necessary. If washed,
allow filter to completely dry before reinstalling. DO NOT operate
the unit without the filter.

3. Obstructed air flow. Maintain a minimum of 12 to 18" of clear air
space around the entire unit.

4. Cooling coils are dirty and need to be cleaned. Use warm water & dish washing liquid to
clean the coils. Rinse and wipe dry. Apply a light coating of WD40 to the coils.

5. Ambient air temperature at floor level is between 40 - 60 degrees.
dehumidifiers do not work well between those temperatures
(Unless, you have a Low Temp Unit). This applies mainly to
where the air temperature at floor level is colder than at shoulder level
in basement applications. Raising the unit up off the floor,
onto a sturdy table, counter top, etc, that can handle the weight
of the unit, plus a full tank of water, will usually resolve this
problem.

If none of the above solves the problem, it may be a case of the compressor needs to be recharged with refrigerant gas or that the humid-i-stat has failed. These things usually occur in units that are 5 years old or older. It's rare in a unit younger than that. But, it can happen.

I hope this helps you to troubleshoot and solve the problem. Thanks for choosing FixYa.

The unit will not run even though the panel is lit up

The problem you're experiencing can be caused by several things:

1. The humidity extraction level is set to HIGH. Lower it to 35%

2. The air intake filter is dirty or clogged. Remove and clean the filter, as necessary.

3. The float valve in the top of the water collection bucket is broken or stuck in the UP position.
Remove the bucket and inspect the float valve for damage and freedom of movement.

4. The water collection bucket is not installed properly. While the bucket is out for checking the
above,be sure to reinstall it "squarely" from top to bottom into the bucket holder. It needs to
make firm contact with the bucket safety removal switch on the rear wall of the bucket holder.

Hope this helps you to troubleshoot & solve the problem. Thanks for choosing FixYa.

My dehumidifier's red light illuminates seconds after turning on the unit even though no water has been collected... it is unusable

Shannon, this is also an indication that the water collection bucket was not reinstalled properly. Turn the unit OFF, unplug the unit and remove the water collection bucket. While it's out, check the top of the bucket for a float valve (if yours is so equipped). As it may be stuck in the UP position. If so, jiggle the arm of the float valve to make it return to the down position. When you reinstall the bucket, be sure that it fit's "squarely" from top to bottom into the bucket holder and makes firm contact with the bucket safety removal switch on the back wall of the bucket holder. The bucket should not tilt down at the bottom when installed properly.

Lug the unit in and turn is ON. If all was checked and done correctly, the bucket full light should not illuminate.

Hope this helped you and thanks for choosing FixYa.

Lin, the air intake filter may need cleaning and the water collection bucket may have a mold and mildew buildup. Cleaning both things, may solve the smelly problem.

I don't have the manual and need to replace and/or clean the air filter on my Goldstar DH304. Where do I find it on the appliance?

if this is the correct picture - pull out the collection bucket and reach just inside the opening at the top (just at the bottom of the grill in the front) the filter is plastic and pulls straight down. Clean it tin soapy water, dry it, and slide it back it place.
