I have a Jenn-Air electric Wall Oven with a lighted digital display. Last week I noticed that the digital display was very dim. It has gotten dimmer and now I can hardly read it. The oven and all the timers, clock, etc. work just fine, it's just the digital display is dim. Thank you. It looks like I need to replace the clock board on my Jenn-Aire double oven again! I replaced back at the end of November 2003 (the oven was new in July 1999). When I ordered part #696652 back in 2003, it cost me $111.05 from RepairClinic, when I look now (a bit over five years later) it's now at $183.65 - Bob
You need to replace the C3 capacitor on the control board

You can replace only the C3 - it is 68uF / 35V and you can go to Radio Shack and get their part # 272-1028 - 100uF/35V one. It takes all but 10 minutes to re-solder the new one in place
I just got done following the instrutions to replace the capacitor at the C3 position, and I almost cried when my display came back after 6 months of not being able to see it. My wife thinks I'm a genius. I had no soldering experience before this. I owe this poster a case of beer, as he saved me $168. Thank you for taking the time to post this. You saved me a ton of money (part cost $1.49) and saved this from going to landfill.
Thanks very much for this - haven't replaced the cap yet, but am ordering the part and will save close to $200. Dinner's on me!
Okay: I used a 100uf/35v replacement found at RadioShack for $1.61 and it's working perfectly. Very easy job. I expect this cap to fail as well, as it's only rated 85º C, and it's replacing a cap that was inadequate at 105º C, however, I wanted this done right away and saved $7 for shipping a 35¢ part, so I'm happy. I'm sure the wife will be pleased, too, if I can get her away from her yard work to have a gander.
I found the correct 105 degree capacitors at Digikey and bought five sets since shipping was so (relatively) expensive. The first installed set is still working perfectly after 3-4 years so I'm willing to sell two of the sets very reasonably.

Can someone outline the procedure to remove the control panel and replace the capacitor? Our Jenn-Aire double oven is 10 years old and we have had this problem from the beginning. In fact, we paid to have the control panel replaced twice because of the inability to read the temperature, time, etc. due to dimming of the panel. The ovens work fantastic! But we can't see the digital display. Any help is appreciated.
