No jumper is necessary for a SATA drive. Just install it and the PC will assign a drive letter to it.

SOURCE: WHERE SHOULD JUMPERS BE SET

hi wiggbone

Western Digital is usually given a choice, do not put the jumper to set the disk to a single drive / master, or you can refer to the stickers that were pasted on the hard disk

thanks and regards

Hi . I have trouble with Dell optiplex GX280 . In the PATA I have two devices . DVD and HD . Both set with jumper . DVD as Slave and HDD as Master ....But the install os cannot detect HDD . where is...

I don't know where the trouble is without more information.
Some tips/information I will list, however,

1) The master harddrive that came with the computer, and has the operating system on it, is a SATA unit.

Therefore any harddrive installed along with it has to be installed as a Slave drive.

BIOS will look for the harddrive with the operating system on it. This harddrive has to be set as a Master drive. (Primary Drive in BIOS)

Installing a harddrive that is a PATA (IDE) unit, AND a PATA optical drive on the same flat ribbon cable, has to be done accordingly;

A) It depends on what flat ribbon cable you have.
There is a 40 wire cable with a 40 pin connector. (39 actually. One socket hole is not used)

I installed a second SATA HD in the desktop dell optiplex gx280. I can see it in the configuration screen, but in the Windows the HD can't be seen through the explorer, but system/hardware show it with...

You need to set up the second drive as a slave, this is done with jumper settings, if you look on the bottom of the hard drive you will see the settings required for the jumper.

Dell Optiplex Gx280 - cant detect two IDE hard drives

Hi,

You should attach two hard drives on primary ide. Set both jumpers to cable select ( or one on end is master, middle one is slave). The one at the end of the cable is where your o/s should be. You could try putting the third on seconday, along with your dvd rom.

I have "Onkyo TX-SR304E" and PS3. Will this rcvr support PS3 in all means? Is there any special setting hat I ned to follow to get the best from my rcvr as well as PS3? Pls advise. Your help much...

what u can utilize on your tx-sr304 is the optical input at the back of the receiver. connect an optical cable from your PS3 into the receiver then follow these steps:
*make sure that the digital input on the front panel of your receiver matches where you placed the optical at the back of the tx-sr304 (either OPT1 or OPT2)
*all you have to do is keep pressing the digital input at the front panel until it goes to OPT1 or OPT2 (preferrably stay on DVD mode)
AFTER completing this go to your PS3 settings:
go to settings / then go to sound settings / then audio output settings / then set it to DIGITAL OUT (optical)/ then play and enjoy.....ü
