I had a similar problem, and how I fixed it, was I made sure the connection was working, so the pc end had right details, and then I turned it off, and then put in router, and when it started back up, it started up and connected straight away.

Is this product compatable with vista? I have had this unit for about 6 years and has been in a closet. Changed my internet service and had this old router. It looks like I have it connected properly, but...

Routers are usually not OS dependable. Which means, yes it is. It is compatible. You need to go inside configuration and make sure your router is picking up IP address from your ISP. This is how to do it:

If you are connecting the router to a cable/DSL/satellite modem, please follow the steps below:
1. Place the router in an open and central location. Do not plug the power adapter into the router.
2. Turn the power off on your modem. If there is no on/off switch, then unplug the modem’s power adapter. Shut down
your computer.
3. Unplug the Ethernet cable (that connects your computer to your modem) from your computer and place it into the
WAN port on the router.
4. Plug an Ethernet cable into one of the four LAN ports on the router. Plug the other end into the Ethernet port on your
computer.
5. Turn on or plug in your modem. Wait for the modem to boot (about 30 seconds).
6. Plug the power adapter to the router and connect to an outlet or power strip. Wait about 30 seconds for the router
to boot.
7. Turn on your computer.
8. Verify the link lights on the router. The power light, WAN light, and the LAN light (the port that your computer is
plugged into) should be lit. If not, make sure your computer, modem, and router are powered on and verify the cable
connections are correct.

Now to configure router, do this:

To access the configuration utility, open a web-browser such as Internet Explorer and enter the IP address of the router (192.168.0.1). (no parenthesis)
Enter the user name (admin) and your password. Leave the password blank by default.

You may run the setup wizard to quickly setup your router. Click Setup Wizard to launch the wizard.
Click Launch Internet Connection Setup Wizard to begin.

Click Next to continue.
Create a new password and then click Next to continue.
Select your time zone from the drop-down menu and then click Next to continue.
Select the type of Internet connection you use and then click Next to continue.

Your connection is probably Dynamic, meaning your ISP is giving you IP address automatically and it changes. So, choose dynamic, and leave host name, mac address and everything else blank. Save it.

That should do it. You can also proceed to setup your wireless. Make sure you secure it also.

If any questions, let me know!

Good luck!

The modem's been changed and cannot locate the CD to the driver to connect to the internet. The model is DSL-G604T/AU V.A3.

Hi! your dlink dsl-604T is adsl router modem, you can access the setup page of your modem router by connecting your computer directly to the port1 of the modem router and the cable from your isp should be connected to the WAN port. u need to pull up the browser and type in at the url:192.168.1.1 and it will ask the username and password, by default the username is admin and the password is 1234 or leave it blank, but i suggest before u do this steps. u need to reset your modem/router. there is a reset button on the back of the router and press it for 20secs and then unplug and replug it after 10secs. after that u can pull up the setup page of the router.. to check the default gateway of the router, right click the network icon on the lower right of the task bar and select status and it will show the ip address, subnet and default gateway..

u need to know what internet settings u have with your internet provider, bcoz once u access the setup wizard it will ask u the type like auto-dhcp, pppoe, static etc.. if your isp gives u a username and pass to connect to internet u have to select pppoe or if u are given a static ip address setting u need to select static ip... just follow the setup wizard..

Orange blink of death!!!

Hello houng_lee,

I have the exact same modem, if the modem/router light is blinking, that indicates a problem with the modem. You indicate that you have internet connectivety, so you should have modem light solid blue. When you look at the Wireless light it's probably off. Which means that at this point you have internet connectivety, you should put the cd in and run through the wireless connection wizard on the CD. It will check to see 1) if you have internet connection, 2) the type of connection you have (comcast) 3) if you have any wireless devices to be hooked up. 4) That all connections are working properly.

If you have a laptop that you want to connect to the wireless router, have it next to the router, so once you've finished setting up your Wireless security and issing a WEP number for local access, you can test your setting immediately with the Laptop. I always suggest that you create a WEP number for securty reason, If you perfer not to create a WEP number, and leave it as an open access (which is fine, and easier to setup) make sure that you shut off broadcasting, So your neigborhood doesn't jump online once they see an open access router.

If you've tried these steps let me know what problems your getting during the wizard setup. It will tell you if everything is setup correctly, or their is an error. Right now, I think the problem is your setup, and it's not communicating correctly. But, the wizard will tell you that as well.

Let me know,

Good Luck
