First you will need to get a wire harness for your specific make, model & year of car. This will interface the car wiring plug to your new clarion headunit.
Next you will connect the wires from your purchased wire harness to the wires of your Clarion Headunit. Using **** connectors with a wire crimper is the best way to do so.
Here is a wire color coding guide for the wires on your Clarion headunit:
P o w e r
Memory (+12v Constant)
Yellow
Ignition (+12v Switched)
Red
Ground (-)
Black
Dimmer
Pink/White (Alpine only)
Power Antenna
Blue
Amplifier Turn-on
Blue/White
Phone Mute
Light Blue (Sony only)
S p e a k e r s
Right Front (+)
Gray
Right Front (-)
Gray/Black
Left Front (+)
White
Left Front (-)
White/Black
Right Rear (+)
Violet
Right Rear (-)

Left Rear (+)
Green

Green/Black
All amps are basicly the same. It should be plain as day where the speakers connect to. The 12V screw connects to the main power from battery, be sure to fuse that wire and use a proper size wire, thicker is better,I suggest at least 8gauge with 40amp fuse. The GND is ground and should connect to car metal, file paint for soild connection. The REM is remote and connects to the remote of headunit or if you have a stock deck to the acc of car found in wire harness of headunit. Plug in the RCA's to head unit, or get a converter to plug into speaker wires from car if you have a stock headunit.
Yes!!!!!!!!!! Your remote wire is what tells your amplifier to turn on and off it won't work without it. Assuming your stereo headunit is an after market unit it has the correct wire for this. what you have to do is pull out you headunit, and in the back of the headunit where all the wires plug into your unit there is blue wire with a white stripe. this is the remote turn on wire. connect a wire to that blue n white wire and run it back to your amp, insert it into to the spot marked remote. turn your head unit on and your amp will power up... if you have all the rca cables hooked up your amp should be ready to go.... btw good choice on the amp, kenwood is the way to go!
it would be easier to remove the harness from the car and wire direct red and yellow from headunit to car live, black to earth,4 coloured pairs (eg purple/purple and white, blue/blue and white) will be speaker wires single blue is your remote wire (not needed unless adding an amp) hope this helps
Usually On Car Amplifiers, there is a Connector/Wire called "Remote On".
This is where Headunit supplies 12V to trigger the Power on the Amplifier.
(Of course, head unit usually has Remote Wire also in order to turn the Amplifier on).
If this wire is properly connected and still does not turn on, then try to supply 12V directly from the battery. If it turns on then your head unit has problem, If it does not turn on then your Amplifier has problem.
Yellow - Constant 12V + Red - Accessory 12V + (switched) Black - Ground 12V neg. Blue - Power antenna turn on Grey(s) - Right front speaker (striped one is neg.) White(s) - Left front speaker (striped one is neg.) Purple(s) - Right rear speaker (same) Green(s) - Left rear speaker (same)
work it out with a meter ,,,,find perm 12v feed neg and pos ---yes could be any coloured wire depending on car maker, after finding perm 12v feed for memory look for pos from ign switch, now speaker wires are easy as both will be same colour for a speaker but one will have a band through it if not sure or colour blind like yours truelly then use pos and neg on speaker wire till you hear a thump from speaker then you know you have the right wires and location of speaker ,,ie.. front left back right ect ....Now you are a fully experianced radio fitter ??
Looking at the connector, there are 3 rows of pins. Starting with the first row closest to the alignment mark: [Power On],[Center Speaker],[Sub Woofer] [Surround Right],[Speaker Ground],[Surround Left] [Right],[Left]
If you are trying to connect two JVC units, you will need an 8-pin cable that has the SAME pins connected on each side. You will need to test this using a multimeter set to ohms or 'connectivity'. There are other 8-pin cables out there like the one for apple networking, but they use a crossover pinout where pin 1 on one end = pin 3 on the other end. This is bad. JVC needs pin 1 to = pin 1.
This is a standard connector/pinout setup that JVC uses, so connecting a TH-C3 to a TH-C50 works fine. There is a bunch of intermixing that you can get away with. The only thing to keep an eye on is the power in watts that one unit sends and the other recieves. Worst case is that the speakers are quiter than expected or that you can turn the volume up so high that it can damage the speakers. In all cases, you should get desired volume somewhere on the dial.
If you are trying to wire the speaker set custom, then you will need to take note that an '8-pin' connector is actually a 9-wire connector. Along with the above pinout, you will need to add Case Ground, which is the metal circle that surrounds the pins. To make the speakers turn on, you will need to apply 12v to the Power On pin and ground the 12v source to the Case Ground outer ring. The system takes 3 to 4 seconds to fully turn on after this connection is made. Speakers should be wired using the center pin for speaker ground and each other pin respectful to each speaker.
