TV shuts off after 76 seconds.

I have a Sansui DTV2798 that is less than a year old, and it works great except that after turning it on, it shuts off on its own after exactly 1 minute and 16 seconds. It does this each and every time I turn it on at the same time interval. I unplugged it, and let it sit for 12 hours and it didn't help. Its still under warrenty, but I have heard horror stories of going to "service centers" for this sort of thing. Any idea what is causing this?

A unit like this will usuallly have a startup routine like a computer except for it tales like a minute or so to complete. I think that you have a voltage that is not checking properly or a voltage that is loading down to nothing. Check ebay for replacement boards or parts for the unit. A board swap is fairly simple and can be done by anyone. There are high voltages in the unit though so take proper precations. Good luck. Dan

Since the TV comes On, like you mentioned on your post above

it could be from a failing power supply or from other circuits.

Could be dried or bad capacitors , or just maybe cold solder joints.

If you need to DIY,

I want to buy this Sansui DTV2760 but can't find the dimensions?

The DTV2760 is 26in wide, 23in high, 20in deep and weighs 81pounds. Try to find a DTV2798 at Walmart. It's almost the same tv with a better warranty.

DTV2798's are sold through Walmart. See if they will exchange it for you since it was a gift.
