Your tv contains protection circuitry that would shut down the tv if the ymain was out. If the ymain had blown, you'd have no sound and just a flashing standby light. My gut tells me you need to replace the Power Supply Board (PSB). I've seen this before and after spending too much money trying to diagnose a ymain failure, I was surprised to learn that when you have sound but no picture, the psb is a gonner. Try ebay, shopjimmy.com or discount-merchant.com for a replacement.
Good Luck!
hopefully you have managed to have your TV serviced! if not and if you are intending on selling it please let me know as i have the same tv with missing boards!! Thanks Rob 0408 392429
My set has encountered this magical 50/50 split screen and it seems to be quite a problem since I am not the only one researching this issue. LG was of no use because of course it is just out of warranty. Any solutions on fixing this or am I out of money in buying a new plasma?
Hey graceylou, Unfortunately, the estimate provided by the repair technician may be correct. While screens can generally be replaced, they often prove to be one the most expensive components of any LCD or plasma TV. If you are in doubt of the prices quoted to you however, I would strongly suggest contacting LG directly for more information. Many manufacturers are able to provide ballpark figures for replacement parts, especially those that are the most prone to damage or susceptible to hardware failure.Remember that labor charges may not be included in any estimate provided to you by LG, so you may wish to confirm with your repair tech if these charges were included in the $1,200.00 you were initially quoted. Hope this helps you out. Sincerely, Aaron Go Ahead. Use Us.
LG Plasmas and all plasmas have problems with the sustain boards. You can replace them with just a screw driver to remove back and boards. Try tritronicsinc.com and andrewselectronics.com and search for Y and Z Sus boards.
They are not cheap and you may want to call a qualified servicer or deal with return cost if they don't work

This can be on the matrix drive board, or the display assembly itself. It is possible to also have a defect in the address decoding area that will cause this.
The procedure is to swap out the suspect boards to determine where the fault is, leave the working boards in the set, and then follow up any necessary calibrations that are necessary.
