How do you open the sewing head to change bulb on Pfaff 955 hobbymatic

To access the light bulb, use the button-hole foot to lift up the insert on the arm cover. Remove the cover. Hold the edge guide slightly tilted and push it into the opening in the head of the sewing machine. Press down on the lamp housing to hold it still. Push up on the bulb and turn it counter-clockwise. Once the bulb is loose, pull it down and out of the lamp housing. To replace the bulb, continue to hold the lamp housing. Push the new bulb into the housing and rotate it clockwise. Release the lamp housing and then use the button-hole foot to replace the cover.

Pfaff has the manuals for most of their machines here: http://www.pfaff.com/en-US/Support-and-Updates/Support . The Hobbymatic 955 support page is http://www.pfaff.com/en-US/Support/3529 . The direct link to the manual is http://www.pfaff.com/SiteMedia/PFAFF/Products/Machines/Support-manuals/Pfaff_935_955_HobbyMATIC-manual-EN-FR-DE-NL.PDF . See page 51 (page 59 of the PDF) for the directions to change the light bulb, These pictures may help you see how to get to the bulb. If you need a replacement button-hole foot, see http://www.sewingpartsonline.com/buttonhole-foot-low-shank-new-1932l.aspx .

I hope this helps.

Board bernina 1030

As you will have noticed, you cannot open the end of a Bernina 1030.

There are two light bulbs on this machine, visible on either side of the needle bar and presser foot shaft. Viewed from the rear of the machine, you can see the one on the right but the one on the left is beneath a transparent plastic cover that slides out easily (but does not come right out).

To remove either of the bulbs, which are a bayonet fit, open the accessories box attached to the rear of the machine and take out the screwdriver tool from the top row, on the left hand side by the bobbin storage. One end of the screwdriver is a screwdriver (!) and the other end has a plastic tube - this is designed to grip the bulb.

Place the plastic tube on the end of the bulb, push a little and rotate anti-clockwise about a quarter of a turn to release the bulb.

The bulbs are both 6 Volts, 4 Watts. board-bernina-1030-yfctketow5dlawzorpkxttl4-1-10.jpg

How do I open the machine to change the light bulb. model ls-1217

Hi
Do you have a manual?
You can download a free manual from the Brother site.
http://www.brother-usa.com/ModelDocuments/Consumer/Users%20Manual/UM_LS_1217_EN_186.PDF
Click on the maintenance section of the manual. The first part of this section shows how to change the light bulb.
Hope this helps!

Light bulb not working

You need to change the bulb.
Most light bulbs in almost all sewing machines are located inside the face plate on the left hand side of the machine.
The faceplate is usually hinged at the back and it opens a bit like a door. It should open fairly easily and close with a click.
Open the faceplate and unscrew the bulb, it should be in plain view.
Look to see if it a screw or bayonet type.
Replace it the same way you would an ordinary bulb.
You can get sewing machine bulbs on ebay but you'll need to know which type of fitting it has before you buy.
Hope this helps!
