You only can do little when you want to "reset" some settings. Like restoring default settings (page 58 of the manual) You can put back the shooting menu (Page 152 of the manual) and reset custom settings (Page 157 of the manual) If something went wrong while updating the firmware, you should try to contact the service centre closest to you.

Unfortunately, you may have a faulty flash pcb (printed circuit board) The part is around 50$ plus installation 200+ total repair cost. A work around would be to use an external flash unit from the hot shoe

Hello howzat11, I'd like to introduce you to your manual via download. The download is 18.5 megs large. Go to page 133 and visit the two button reset page. It's available for download from:  http://www.starbatteries.com/index.html. Look at camera manuals and have fun.

I cannot use my camera properly

Complete reset is not possible. The language and date and time stay as they are. But you can set back shooting options. For that press the menu button and goto the second logo from the top, the camera/ Shooting Menu: Shooting Options.
The first line of the menu is Reset shooting menu.
Press there and follow the options.
Then you can reset the custom settings.
Third logo on the left in the menu. The pencil and called Custom Settings. Press that and chose line 1 again.

RESET ALL Button

I'm convinced you already did read the user manual. There are three things you can reset:
1. User settings. In menu mode P, you can undo all the settings you made. Page 69.
2. Reset all settings. Page 151 Menu settings, chose the wrench symbol and chose reset all. All settings will be restored to factory settings.
3. Reset file numbering. Page 154 Menu settings, chose the wrench symbol and chose reset file numbering.
In the same menu is also the view firmware version. Yours should read Coolpix P90 Ver.X.X .
The latest update of firmware for the P90 is 1.1 Great chance your camera came with that revision already. If you registered your camera with Nikon, they will inform you when a new firmware is released.
Really, there is nothing more you can reset on the camera.
So if something is wrong, it can't be helped with the reset you have in mind, because that reset does not exist.
If you want the firmware 1.1, goto Nikon USA and support. Everything you want is there.

Nikon coolpix p90 how to reset to factory settings

It doesn't reset everything, but there is a "Reset All" command in the Setup menu. Press the MENU button, then the wrench and then "Reset All."
This reset leaves the date/time, white balance, language, and video mode alone.

Hi,
To reset your Nikon Speedlight SB-600 you need to press Mode + ON/OFF, both buttons simultaneously for approximately 2 seconds to reset all settings, including the custom settings (except the distance unit selected in m/ft) to their default values.

Have a nikon d70, lent it to friend who messed up all the settings. is there a way to reset the camera? thank you

You can perform a two button reset. This can be accomplished by holding the BKT button and the metering mode button simultaneously for two seconds. Review page 111 of the D70 manual details which settings are restored to factory default after performing a two button reset. Custom settings are not changed.

Good luck!

Grainy pictures

There are many settings which may have been accidentally changed. I suggest that the easiest way for you to go back the factory settings would be to use the "reset" facility on the menu options. This will reset the camera to the way it was when it came from the factory. Following this, you may need to reset the date and time. Alternatively, you can leave the batteries out of the camera for a few days, and this will cause it to lose any settings, forcing a factory reset.
