Troy built 4 cycle trimmer wont turn attachments -fixed?

The engin works and thr first shaft works but blower and weedtrimmer wont turn. I had similar problem for edger and made at least a temprary repair. Based on assumption that the lower (attachment) was not reaching as far inside upper coupling, I removed coupling (outer piece with red knob) and verified that the outer "pipe" was the limiting factor as to how close they connected. Then after sawing off about 1/4" of the lower attachment pipe, I moved the coupling up, drilled a new hole for the screw and it worked! My other attachments did ont have this same problem, and now they do not lock in with the push button to prevent twisting, but my string trimmer never did anyway and I don't care about the blower. Might not work for you but it did for me and it is a free fix!
