Toro recycler will run until primed gas is consumed.

Manual start only one year old prime 3 of 5 times, will run until primed fuel is used up. HOW do I drain carbureator bowl? iow water? in carb? I am having the same problem, although my mower is 7 years old. (Model 20016, 22 inch Toro Recycler). I have changed the air filter, the oil, and even emptied the gas tank and bought fresh gas. The mower starts in one shot after priming, but then shuts off immediately. Any advice greatly appreciated.

The problem is that the gas that sat in the carb all winter glazed it over and gummed it up. Begin by going to any auto parts store, like an aiutozone, and getting a bottle of carb. cleaner. Seafoam is one I use. Add it to your gas, one ounce per gallon of gas. Also, pick up a can of engine starting spray.

Remove the air filter and spray the engine starting spray into the air intake. Pull start the engine and give it additional squirts of engine starting spray until it runs smoothly.

Great advice Joe, thanks. I had the same problem - Toro would start and then sputter out as if the fuel supply was choked off. I used Seafoam carb cleaner bought at Advance Auto, 1 oz per gallon, and installed a new air filter. My Toro started and kept running like new. Problem fixed, grass cut.

SOURCE: toro recycler will start until primed gas is consumed.

I had similar problem and cleaned the spark plug and that seemed to have worked, but I think that may be a temporary fix because the engine still seems to be running unevenly. I feel that it must be a larger problem with the carb. If anyone can help this novice to adjust the carb or clean both carb and filter, or offer other solutions I would appreciate your assistance.

Toro Recycler self propelled2006 or 2009 mower with B&S engine won't start when hot but if primed with a shot of starter fluid stars and runs fine.

This sounds like classic vapor lock. Heat from the engine is vaporizing the fuel in the carburetor before it gets into the cylinder. Next time it happens, try icing down the carburetor and fuel lines and see if it starts up.

Toro Power Clear 418 ZE Snow Blower won't stay started

The main jet of your carb is clogged and you need to open carb and clear the obstruction - spray carb cleaner on the bolt that holds the gas container to bottom of carb - also spray all the innards along with any tube that protrudes into the gas can.

Then using air compressor blow the sucker out and reassemble. That should do it.

I have a Toro 20462 power mower -- about 15 years old, but until just today still running great! The spark plug is good, the gas is good, the oil is good the air filter is good. After priming, it starts...

Remove and clean the brass bolt that holds the float bowl on the carburetor. Clean out the bowl too. Use no metal objects to clean this bolt. It has 3 small holes...bottom...and on the sides near the top. Use carb/choke aerosol spray cleaner on it. IT can clog (esp. without an inline fuel filter on mower). Clean the bolt good, reinstall (not forgettting felt gasket between IT and the bowl) and your runnability problem and fuel flow problem should be solved as the bolt is also the main jet of the carburetor.

After priming starts, runs and stops

If you over fill the oil your mower will not start until you remove excess oil. This should be checked first, This is a much easier fix.

I have a Toro model 20007 recycler with a 6.5HP Tecumseh engine. The gas had some water so i took the carburetor and gas tank off and cleaned it and the jets. The engine will crank after priming it but...

This almost sounds like a pinhole in the primer bulb but I need to know if you did the following. Did you remove the jet and venturi tube in the bottom of the carb. and clean the BRASS orifice hole and BRASS tube holes? If you did not then It will act just like the symptoms you described. Also check to see if your float bowl nut has holes in the side of it. IF it does then make sure the hole(s) are clean. Also make sure the fuel selector is all the way ON. Adittionally if the carb to block mating gasket is torn or not secure it will also perform as you stated.

Lastly the open the fuel air mixture screw on the side of the carb about 1/8th turn and see if the performance changes.

If the problem persists ....
This is dangerous due to the risk of fire but....

If you have any carb cleaner you can give it a quick shot in the nmating areas just after you start it before it gets hot to see if it speeds up. If it does, you have a vacuum leak. It is better to use an unlit propane torch if you have one.

Thanks for using FixYa,

Kelly

P.s. If the problem does persist I will need your complete engine number to proceed in troubleshooting.

I have toro 6.5 super/recycler that stalls out after about 5-10 minutes after it starts up then it will not start for about 30 mins. i've changed the spark plug and cleaned the filter

Dont know if this is the same problem but it may help. I've recently bought a used Toro 6.5 recycler and have cut the lawn 3 times with it. This third time it began to stall out on me. If I hit the primer button several times it would start up but then die again. I thought I'd have to pull the carb and clean it, ut after looking at a few problem listings online I realized it was probably just some trash in the needle valve. I managed to get it running again by first pushing the primer pump 3-5 times, then pulling the cord to crank it, then while holding the contact bar in place with one hand to keep it running I reached down and pumped the prime button a few times before it cut out again- after one or two tries it apparently flushed the trash out and it ran fine again. Had the same problem later and fixed it the exact same way, then went on to finish the yard.

Hello:

There are 2 Possible Causes for this Problem.
