MINE IS THESE SAME WITH 5 FLASHING LIGHTS...I WAS TOLD I NEED A "NEW BLUE PICTURE TUBE" ...SONY NO LONGER MAKES THE BLUE TUBE...IS THERE A CLASS ACTION ON THESE UNITS? I WAS TOLD ALL THESE BLUE TUBES FAIL.
I called the Sony Customer service @ 1800-222-7669 ( they were located in the Phillipines !)and was informed that they have no warnings on file (about the RGB guns) therefore was not a chronic problem. This differs from what servicemen report that I have spoken to. I've had the three guns go out within a period of 14 months, out of warranty, and Sony refused to do anything about it. Oh!, they did say that I should have an Authorized Sony repair agency look at and define the problem-But I'd still have to pay the service tab anyway, which will run about 350.00 each; installed and aligned at an independant service shop.
Try and argue with someone who speaks English, but does not understand the concept of understanding it. I will have it repaired, because it is a good TV with many features.
I have the same TV and after 4 years the same problem occured your projection tube have failed, ipurchased the extended warranty and all three tubes were replaced and the tv has worked great since
I purchased my TV about 6 years ago. Within the first 6 months, I had the issue of fading colors. Luckily it was under warranty and they sent out a tech to replace all three tubes. About 6 months ago, when I did not renew my extended warranty, I begin to experience fading pictures.
Not willing to part with $700 to repair it, I am left to watch TV in 15-20 minutes spurts, until I built enough courage to try and fix it myself.
