It sems to me like your engine chokes itself on a too rich fuel mix, a clogged air filter may cause this condition. Of course there is always the possibility of a needed carburetor adjustment but I would definitely check the air filter first if this machine used to work fine.

So how did it work out for you, OP? If you tried the suggestion and it didn't help, please tell. Without feedback I cannot help you further.

Did you disengage the choke after it started on choke initially? If you don't switch to half choke or no choke (Run position) shortly after you got it started on choke you will experience just that, the engine dies when throttled because of a too rich fuel mix. Those small engines can be a little tricky to get used to.

It is obviosly fuel starvation, have you actually replaced the fuel filter on the end of the hose in the tank? try richening the fuel mixture by unscrewing the H and L screw on the carb 1/4 turn on each, you may need a special tool to grip and turn these.

Husqvarna weed eater starts , but blows alot of smoke & then stalls out

Rod, Carb. may need adjusted, try loosening gas cap and start to see if cap vent plugged, there is a in tank fuel filter that you could fish out and remove to see if it is plugged. If still not running remove muffler and clean spark arrester screen, if screen plugged the trimmer will do this.
Check the attached links, instruction and guides, Good luck

I have a ryobi weed eater clean carb change filter and spark plug wont run off choke

I have the same problem. It will run if I put it halfway between Half Choke and Full Choke. But, just dies if I put it on Run or Half Choke. Don't ever loan your WE to anyone, They might just try to run it on straight gas--That is what happened on another week eater that I had.

Weedeater starsts and ildes won't run or accelerate

Make sure your gas supply is fresh...not from last year...
Secondly, clean and service the air filter element... you may need to reoil it before installation...check your manual.
Disconnect the fuel line and drain it and what little is in the carb...push on the prime bulb if it's got one...
Then with a clean air filter and fresh gas... give it a start and after start, disengage the choke..
Let me know how you do..
