SOURCE: eco smart won't drain, smells hot

hi
you commented on hearing water in the machine after the wash , i know that f&p spin bowls have a liquid inside the actual spin bowl system i think it aids in the spin operation of the machine, but if you had something in the drain network then that will stop the machine from emptingout as it all works on a time basis check and see that you are not getting any leaks from the bottom of the machime as your new pump won't last long if it gets wet also if there is water leaking that can be the main seal on the motor shaft failing
cheers grant

SOURCE: Water changes from hot to cold. Valves checked out

Bad thermistor or bad board. Or its just a energy super saver and it will not let you use all that hot water. Did it work before or its been like this since new? New energy star models will only let it just get warm for hot wash, saving energy. warm wash is like 70 deg water.

SOURCE: GWL10 leaving dark streaks on my cold water whites.

Hi Barla 2,Just read your posting. Now are the dark streaks like an oily substance? Is you machine leaking or has become noisier on the spin cycle? The only place this machine will get oil into the water is from the main bearings. But this is only the case if your main seal is faulty. Please reply with the additional information and I can help you rectify this problem.

Testimonial: "It could be oil. It's definately dark and stained so yes I'd say oil."

SOURCE: top loading washer, model GW

Hello Scott, welcome to FixYa.

I understand you have a GW712 Fisher & Paykel washer where "after filling, the hot and cold water temp lights flash", correct ?

According to Fisher & Paykel this can mean one of these scenarios is at the root of the error...

1) The taps have not been turned on.

2) Inlet hose screens may be blocked.

3) The hoses may be kinked.

4) The drain hose is too low or the drain hose is pushed into the standpipe too far and the water is siphoning out of the machine.

5) The flow rate of the supply water is too slow.

To address this, and as long as water is indeed entering the unit here`s what I find is most common (when dealing with the symptom you`ve describe) the hose screens at the water valve have become obstructed or partially at least, thus you still get through a cycle...even if having to attempt twice or up until the rinse when it needs "cold' water again...I would focus on the cold water line.

In my experience the other scenarios are less likely as well as more obvious when they occur. I would suggest you turn the water off and check and clean the screens at either end of the hoses (if applicable to your hoses...some only have screens in the valve) as shown in this example...

Let me know if this was indeed the case and if so please rate the solution accordingly. If not we can move forward from there, but please let me know. Thank's for coming to FixYa and good luck.

Regards,

Macmarkus :)

Top load washer Inglis mod.im45000,ser.cp4304291 smelly, cleaned lint trap, inside of tub,put baking soda in,

Spray a stream of bleach-type cleaning solution (Clorox Clean-up, or bleach and water mix) between the inner and outer tub at the top rim. Run a soak cycle with water and bleach (full load water level setting). I haven't looked at the manual for your washer, so if it doesn't have a soak cycle, start a normal cycle, stop it after a minute of agitation, then let the washer sit for at least an hour before starting it again.

Sometimes the particle traps at the water inlets get a bacterial film growing on them. Turn off the water to the machine, remove the hoses and clean off the trap screens. If there is a film, put the hoses in a bucket and turn the water on to flush them out. This will help prevent the return of the odor.

Why is my washer water giving a strong smell?

chances r the loads u do never incorporate hot water, and u dont use bleach....this causes harmless bacteria to create a huge bathtub like ring around the very top of your outer tub inside the machine.run 3 large loads w/ hot water and a bunch of bleach to kill it

My GE washing machine drains the water after the rinse cycle but does not start spinning. It just sits with the water pump running and does nothing. This doesn't happen with every load but seems to be...

Most likely the tube from the tub to the water level switch is full of "gunk" so the washer still thinks there is water in the machine, and therefore will not spin. Take the front panel off by pushing in the retaining clips at the top seam between the front panel and the washer top. Pull the thin hose off the left side of the tub and clean it out. (or cut off an inch or so, but you can only get away with that once or twice). To help prevent re-occurance, every two or three months you can fill the washer to the lowest level with hot water and several cups of bleach (no clothes) and run it through a cycle. Rinse at the ex-large setting to make sure all traces of bleach are gone before doing another load of laundry.

Whites are not white

This is from not enough HOT loads.

Fatty deposits gather between the basket and tub during COLD washes.

Then they are being released in large numbers when you do your whites on HOT.

It is recommended to do 1 HOT load per week.

Do an empty load with some degreaser added (like Goo-Gone) on the fullest/hottest setting you have.

Leaves white marks on coloured clothes

I'd try putting the machine on a hot fill wash, max water level put in half a cup of baking soda when the machine starts to washer turn it off and leave it to soak overnight, then let it finish the cycle the next day. Also make sure you tip some of the hot water down the beach dispenser and clean all around the top of the machine

Musty smell

This problem is caused because the water does not get totally pumped out of the outer tub and sits in the bottom of the tub and in the front seals. Eventually a mildew type scum develops and causes the washer to stink and also impart the odor to clothes. Even though front loaders do use less water and energy, all of them have essentially the same design and therefore all will eventually develop this problem.
Run a load with just bleach (about 1 cup) and white vinegar (about 1 1/2 cups) poured directly into the washer with hot water and it seemed to help, but this does need to be repeated about once a month or so...

but with your wife's Asthma tho you could try
Typically the cause is the machine itself, but occasionally the water being used in the washer can be the source of the problem. If the smell resembles rotten eggs, you may need a water filtration system installed. After you eliminate any other possibilities, you can begin the treatment process. Create a mixture of baking soda and vinegar. Add 1/2 cup of baking soda to 2 cups of white distilled vinegar. 3Begin a wash cycle using the machine’s hottest setting. As the water rises, add the baking soda and vinegar mixture. Let the washing machine complete a full cycle. If you notice any residue that has been loosened, use a cloth to wipe the surface clean. Run a cold water cycle to complete the process. You should immediately notice that the smell has been neutralized.

LG Tromm Not Dispensing Bleach

My wife has been complaining that the bleach and fabric softener dispenser still had water in it after washing. After removing the top to the washer I found that there are 4 components to the dispenser. 1. the solenoid (part of a 3 solenoid bundle) for the cold water, 2 the controller to the solenoid 3. The hose from the solenoid to the dispenser, and 4. The dispenser. After checking that there were no kinks in the hoses. I checked the solenoid found it had power at the right time but the flow was low. I shut off all the water and disconnected the lines going into the back of the washer I found that the cold water filters were clogged. After cleaning them (there were 2 for each hot and cold) The washer worked correctly.

Clothes are not clean How can I take washer aprt to clean soap dispenser???

Dear carolesergy,
Welcome to fixya

You sad,My clothes get dingier ever week from using my washer especially the towels. They are now Grey and not white

1.Here are some ideas and INFO!
2.How old is your MAH5500B washer and did you buy it new?
3.Do you use HE High Efficient detergent?
4.Do you ONLY put the proper amount of detergent directed to be used by the manufacturer?
5.Using to much detergent will degrade the seal and eventually destroy the bearings.
Which will cause oil to leak out on your clothes and sometimes make gray stains on them !
6.Is there tiny gray oily pieces in the wash and on clothes?
7.Look closely at your rubber seal around the opening. Is this worn or deteriorating away slowly due to bleach or detergent? Is it a gray or black rubber?

Please have patients and bear with me, with all these questions I propose to you here!
"
I am searching with your eyes for things I have seen in the past about this model"

Here are some reasons this may also happen!

How large of a load can I wash in my Maytag Neptune washer?
* The tub can be loaded completely full with dry, unfolded clothes. However, do not pack the tub tightly. If the load is heavily
soiled it is very important not to overload the washer.

My whites are not as white as I’d like. What can I do?
* Wash white loads using the cotton/sturdy fabric selection. Select the hot wash/cold rinse temperature setting and put 3/4
cup of chlorine bleach in the bleach dispenser. The bleach will be dispensed in the final minutes of the wash providing for
optimal whitening. Maytag recommends a hot water wash temperature of 120-140° F (49°- 60° C).

Also:
*The lint filter in side the machine may be clogging with dirty lint!
*Which means you needed service!

I hope one of these solutions is the reason!
Let me know how you do!

Liquid Bleach dispenser doesn't work correctly

This may not be relevant, but by design, bleach does NOT dispense in the Buly/Bedding, Kids Wear, and Silk/Ultra Delicate cycles. If you try to use it, it remains in the dispenser.

As for the yucky smell, leave the door open when not in use.
