Normal issues with cd/dvd trays - gear/rubber of the tray transport worn out.

manytimes it helps if you always keep a cd/dvd in the tray (don't keep the tray empty)

it may also help if you can keep the bose 321 vertical.

Bose 321 dvd tray will not open just a buzzing sound when i press eject. it sounds like a gear is turning but the dvd tray does not open

Bose customer service used to be excellent. I would suggest you contact them directly, they may still have an exchange program; you send them yours and get a refurbished unit in return.

Unable to open the door of the dvd --when you press the eject button to open the slot---the door does not open---everything else works

Quick trick

First let's find out if the motor is dead or
the magnetic clamp is to strong for the motor.

Press eject then listen closely for the sounds of struggling motor
if you hear it trying SLAP the top right over the DVD drive
and that should break the magnetic seal and release the tray
you may have to try a few times Press eject and open hand slap kinda
hard the top of the DVD drive , don't worry you won't hurt it.

if that works email me and ill tell you how to fix this.

Bose 321 tray will not open

If it's flashing on and off, then the DVD drive is the least of your problems. Check to see if there is a dual-voltage switch on the bass module. (if so, set it to 120v if you're in the US) As for the DVD drive--> Try another reset by unplugging the power for at least 30 seconds. Plug it back in, "Bose 321" will appear and disappear from the display, and then press the eject button before you power it back on. Wait about 3-8 seconds. If the drive won't open, it will probably need a repair. $150 for repair w/ new warranty through Bose- 800-367-4998.

Placed dvd in to bose dvd player and it froze...wont go back to dvd mode and will not eject...any suggestions?

This can sometimes happen with a newly manufactured DVD (in which case you should call for a sw update) or a copied DVD. Either way, turn the 321 off, unplug the power cable from the acoustimass module, and wait 30+ seconds. After plugging it in, don't turn it on. Just press the eject button and wait about 5-8 seconds. If the tray doesn't open this could me a mechanical failure, in which case you should call Bose for a repair. Otherwise, just call them for a sw update if the DVD comes out.

NO NEED TO TEAR APART OR REPLACE THE UNIT! JUST TURN OFF THE UNIT, LEAN IT FORWARD AND A LITTLE DOWNWARD AND HIT THE LOAD BUTTON AND IT WILL OPEN. THAT'S THE TRICK!

Non bose dvd player for bose system

In short, you can. I did it last night. My Bose 321 DVD player is junk and it's always been junk, but I love the sound sytem. Last night, after the thing gobbled it's last DVD, I went through the whole, unplug, wait 5 minutes, plug back in, etc. and it still wouldn't eject so I ripped the DVD tray out of the thing with a pair of pliers, recovered my DVD, and slammed the tray back in, stripping all the gears and screwing up the motor in the process.
BUT, I disconnected the video cable from my Bose and plugged it into the video out on my el-cheapo Tru-Tech $99 DVD recorder. Then I ran the audio out cables from the Tru-Tech to the Aux 1 inputs on my Bose 321.
When I want to watch a DVD now, I put the DVD in my Tru-Tech, turn on the Bose, switch it to Aux 1, and I get a great picture and the Bose sound. Best of all, I don't have to plug and unplug that sorry Bose system everytime the wind blows.
They used the absolute cheapest DVD player they could get their hands on--a Toshiba model--for all the Bose 321 older models. Every single person who bought one has had these same troubles and they've made no offer to fix them.
This was my first and last Bose because of that and I hope more people stay away from Bose until they get their act together and protect their customers. $1000 for a system that eats DVDs like M&M's is ridiculous.

Bose 321 DVD Stuck Won't Open

This can happen if the disc has been put in upside down accidentally, if both sides are highly reflective (e.g. blank recording discs). If so, you need to get the system to eject the system before it attempts (and fails) to read the wrong side of the disc:
On the back of the Acoustimass module (sub woofer) is a power switch. Use this to the turn the system off and wait 30 seconds. Switch it back on, the media centre flashes up "Bose 321" - press the eject button firmly once as soon as this disappears. If this works, contact Bose with the serial number from the media centre to see if the system needs a (free) software update (a disc they send in the post) - just in case the system is having general disc reading issues.

However, it may be that the drive has failed - it's a mechanical part in a mass produced system so this is not unreasonable, just disappointing. But because you have bought a premium system, the company will rush to help you - call them for a repair and explain you need the disc back urgently. they'll probably arrange an urgent, fast turnaround repair....

Bose 321 DVD System

I love my Bose 321 DVD system, but a few days ago, it started acting weird. I put in a DVD, and it reads - "No Disc".....and I'm not sure why. I cleaned the disc, and I also played a DVD/CD Maintenance kit - I'm not sure what is wrong. It seems like I have a problem within the system - what can I do?
