usually it is place at the back of the CPU. the plug color is pink. near the fan. goodluck!

look in the sound settings you may find the front panel audio and headphone have been deactivated, or try to re-install the sound drivers again, if there is any on-board audio, go into the bios settings and dissable it

Make sure physical cables are plugged in correctly from speaker to audio ports. Check audio driver if installed, if not you can download the driver from the dell website:support.dell.com.If driver is propely installed check sound/volume settings, make sure nothing is set to mute...Hope this helps...Cheers!!!

Just about every PC will accept about any PC speaker system. Your computer has 'Line out' jacks that supply the right level of signal for practically all speaker sets that have their own internal power amplifier. Two-speaker sets are around $20 US with prices and quality going up from there.

I dont know if my computer has a built in mic

the dimension does not have a built in microphone, however it does have a microphone input (the blue jack in the picture below, yours won't look exactly the same but it should be blue) so you can purchase a microphone and plug it into the microphone input and be up and going.

If you're looking at the back of the computer there will be three round jacks in a horizontal row. The microphone jack is the one on the left.

try to check the speakers or microphone lines and jacks whether they are connected properly . if still does not work, then check the audio settings under sound and devices in control panel.
If still makes no difference , then try reinstalling the audio drivers via the CD that was provided to you or u can find the drivers on http://www.toshiba.com or http://www.driverfiles.net/Notebooks/Toshiba/Tecra-9100/download/page,sh,31396,221,19,.html
